Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~
We booked with them a few weeks ago actually. That place is beautiful!Planning is coming along. So far we have the church and the reception hall booked. Right now we're looking for our DJ and Photographer...hoping to nail down both of those within the next two weeks probably. I've also been doing a little dress shopping already too! =)

Yes, I went to the showcase last night. It was the first time I saw the place as if I were there at a wedding. I was so excited. I loved it. I tasted the food we will be eating, the cake we will be having! I even made FH practice walking into the Grand Ballroom as Mr and Mrs for the first time. I had some people laughing. Not sure when they'll have the next one but this was fun. My wedding is coming up in May. Can't wait!

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~
Does any one have any suggestion for local hotels near the DM?I've visited the Inn at Great Neck, but it's a little pricey for out of town guests.
Our other option may be to go with the new Hyatt Place in Garden City...any suggestions?
And as far as I know, no local hotel provides any free kind of transportation to and from the DM?

We booked in the Douglaston Manor on Wednesday 1/27/10. Our wedding is 08/19/11. I feel so much better having found a venue. I look forward to hearing from the other DM brides abour their experience.

I got ready at the Inn at Great Neck and gave people the options to stay at the Quality Inn for a more budget friendly option 99 a night for group rate , it is located on jericho turnpike cross street little neck parkway. cabs to douglaston manor $12 . I provided a one way shuttle for both hotels to Douglaston Manor. at the end of the night everyone found there own way back, cabs, carpool etc

The Adria/Ramada is on Northern Blvd close to the DM. I also checked out the Anchor Inn, Inn at Great Neck and the Andrew Hotel. They are all a bit pricey.
The Adria and Ramada are two separate hotels owned by the same people however the Adria is slightly nicer. So, blocked off rooms and they don't ask for a credit card and you can block off as many as you want. Their price was $135 including breakfast and free parking. The Ramada without breakfast is $125.
My reception ends at 11:30pm so my guests are just going there to crash. It's nice enough. The Andrew Hotel's group rate was $179. It's very Urban chic with an Asian flare. If you want traditional luxury, I preferred the Inn at Great Neck. If you want a place that is good enough and won't be that expensive for guests, the Adria is great.
Also, we are getting 14 passenger vans/shuttles from Ollies Taxi Service to take the guests to and from the hotel to the DM and back later that night. I think it's $75 per van r/t.
So, you have all the info. I checked around and that's mostly the options. Hope that helped. Good luck

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~
We went with La Quinta in Garden City. For every certain number of rooms you book, they provide you with a free shuttle (14 passenger) or a credit towards the bridal suite of $150.We ran into a similar situation of finding a hotel, since we both have a significant number of out of town guests and wanted to keep the price on the lower end.
The room rate they gave us was $149/night.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

This is good to know also about the free shuttle. I need a lot of rooms. La Quinta is 15 minutes away vs. 5 minutes from the Adria to the Douglaston Manor which is $135 pp but no free shuttle. Ollies shuttle is $75 rt 14 passenger.

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~
so i met with tom from cresas florist, i loved him. i thought the prices were a little high but lets see what he makes up for me to see if its worth it.for anyone getting married at the douglaston manor Tom from cress floristjust informed me that they have torn down the pergola on the golf course side. I'm so upset with this. I'm gonna have to go there nad check that out. Tom says there is now a metal gazebo there which is not as nice. Has anyone seen it? Ihope my Bm Sam is going to make this up to me.
