Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Ummm.... havent decided yet? I like the idea of changing but knowing me it would be into sweatpants that say married accross the butt!
Some of the dresses from the websites look complicated to put on I'm not sure if i would know how! Sorry if that sounds silly
I really am americanized!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I like the sweatpants idea.. as long as it says married or bride but not JUICE

for indian outsit, I think lehnga is better since it is 2 piece and don't require work...
but of course, you don't feel like changing (hey a white wedding gown is expensive enough) You can just get some indian favors or invites or decor.
such as
Indian Favors

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

hey girls...it seems like everyone's planning is going really well! leena your dress looks beautiful...i haven't posted anything in a while because unfortunately i haven't had anything to post....sincewe booked our reception hall last month i haven't done anything! anyways, i had a question for all of you...i was wondering if any of you guys are registering? we really wanted to....my FH and i were so excited about picking stuff out for our house but we're still going to be living apart for a year after we get married so we'll probably just have to keep everything in storage at someone's house...after that we have no idea where we're moving (we're both in medical school and we'll be starting residency) and finally i don't know if older indian people are so familiar with the whole registry process....i know this is probably the least of my worries but i've been so confused for the past few days...

also, tina....it might be nice to just have an indian theme throughout your wedding....just don't make it too traditional so that it blends in with a more western type of wedding....for example...you could decorate with tealights in holders that are a little more ethnic...and vases that are similar...off-white and gold tend to blend well with american and indian weddings i think so you might consider using colors like that..clay pots and candle holders look really pretty too if they are decorated...i know this is very cliche but i think that liz hurley did a good job of blending indian/western traditions in terms of her clothes and jewellery and stuff...so you might want to look at pictures from her wedding...

sorry this is so long.....!!

RK --

we did register even though we're moving to london for two years... my parents have kept it all in their basement (thanks mom dad!)

i know with Bed Bath & Beyond you get cash back if you return, so thats nice you can always return items for cash.. the rest i think are return for store credit...

but we registered at Bloomingdales, BBB & Crate & Barrel

thanks all!!!

GG - yep from elegant affairs, i was really happy with them....
here are my center pieces that they also did...

the main was the tall vase with river rocks and the callas, then there were 3 small square vases around it with a single esperanza rose in it.. i also used icheran's idea with the cylindrical lit table #s....

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Jiji, we are getting married in Nov, so I hear you...
first of all, you should think about to do you want the most in HM, you want beach? sight seeing? mountain get away?
we know we want beach and sight seeing, so we rule out Europe, and then we want Caribbean, Nov is the hurrican season. the only save area is Aruba, trinidad, grenada & Barbado and we didnt want to go to Mexico.
we were very close to choose Barbado, but end up we decide to go to Aruba.
My suggestion is, talk to your FH to see what do you want the most and then check what is a good place to go in Nov. Greece and Europe for sure is too cold.
