Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Jlu, it is very frustrating .. and I already yell at FH why he didn't ask the temple b/4 he went to Sitar. So he said he is going to the temple in person and talk to them in person. but 1of my friend told me the 'community' will clean it. my question is, who is 'community'??? she said the people....(basically her guests/ uncles) I really disagree! I don't think my guests have to clean up afterward???I personally think the workers in temple should clean it, that why it is a huge fee to use their place...but I guess this is not the case...

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
hi ggcopying~ at our church we were told that it would be a courtesy if we would clean up rose petals etc after the ceremony but if we didnt then they would have to do it...maybe it is a similar situation? I was thinking of maybe asking a cousin of mine to handle it? it will just be cleaning up flowers and any programs left behind... i know you don't want your guests to have to do it...but if worse comes to worse maybeyou can ask specific relatives to help out?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
GG --do you think the 'community' is the people that work at the temple? If not then i'd ask some relaible friends to help out.. maybe even your parents close friends or family? I know its a touchy subject because you dont want to hear complaints afterwards... i hope your FH gives you good news after he talks to the temple pple!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
gg - its seems that is your only option really. having people you know help clean up. i know you dont want that but if everyone else is refusing.. what else can you do?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
does anyone have suggestions for mandaps? i've seen unique emporium ( very reasonable prices) and elegant affairs ( extremely expensive but beautiful). also, has anyone worked with bharat or his wife for their mandap? any pictures would also be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Welcome to the thread J..I used elegant affairs, who i totoally recommend, their products are top quality, and i was really happy with the job they did with my flowers as well, when i was running out of ideas they inspired me.. they are pricey though..
We went to see mandaps in House of Dipali in queens too but i wasnt impressed.. some of the pillars in their mandaps were chipped and looked as if they'd been painted over 25 times.. but that was just the pillared mandap, the other stuff they had was ok..
My friend used Sajawat and they were a little more reasonably priced and i know that Kalpana aunty was really reliable... Mandaps USA is also good too..
Sajawat

good luck! let us know who you book..
