Nanking looks beautiful, good luck. I didn't have much of a choise when picking where to have my eparty. My FH's parents chose the place, it's not bad but very common. Anyway, how all you girls doing??? Any other stressors that I should be aware of since I just starting my planning process?? Also, when you guys booked the photographers, were they american or indian??

craznan, we went with non-indians (something in blue)... my friend used an indian photographer but her shots were very posed, we wanted more of a photojournalistic look.... it depends on the look you're going for... there are some other great photographers listed on this site, like angelica glass, thomas paul... i highly reccommend SIB though, loved'em...

where did you have/or are having your eparty?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I was looking for both the posed look and the snapshot action shots as well because those seem more natural. Thanks for the advise, I'll check them out.

I'm having my eparty at Tandoor Restaurant in Queens. It was such a last minute decision to even have an eparty so we just picked something close.

I finally booked the reception location and I'm so relieved. That was the biggest thing stressing me out was to get the place I really wanted. Now it's just everything else. How far in advance did you book something in blue? Also, was the price reasonable? One last question, (I know I'm swarming you with questions) but did you have a limo? Because I want a limo for the out-of-town guests but for some reason my parents say that we won't need one. What do you all think?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hey, Tandoor is nice! they have really good food... are you getting the upstairs room?

last time iwas there for a party (loooooong time ago) there was an upstairs,,,

hmm regards to the limo... you should do it if its important to you... we had a rented RR take us away after the wedding.. but didnt have a limo for the bridal party (really our parents)... if you have a bridal party it may be nice... but if you're not too keen on it, money may be better spent else where.... GL!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hi Girls, how's wedding planning?
and mrsG how's married life?

Anyone hear from RGV yet? Hope her bm saree went well.

We are having a limo for our parents and bridal party only. I think it depends on how many OOT you have, if you have a lot, then it is not a bad idea to have a bus from your hotel to the RH, otherwise, no need to spend that money.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Yeah, Tandoor still has the upstairs and the party will be up there. I mean I am excited because their food is really good.

I do have a bridal party, small one though, only 4 girls and I think it would be cute you know. Maybe we just won't have one for the out of town guests, unless we have a lot. Not sure exactly who would be available to come here until the last minute u know. But thanks for the advise. Oh yeah, sow is married life treating you???

ggcopying, thanks for the advice as well. we might do a bus depending on how many people there will be. We'll have to wait and see. What photographer do you recommend using? I'm getting feedback from many places but some do not work during the winter months and it poses a problem for me since my wedding will be in February. Any more suggestions??

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

RGV07 - Did you order them from india??? Maybe you can cancel if you don't think they will arrive in time and see what you can get from indian stores in Jackson Heights?? Just a thought since I haven't really looked yet, just started my wedding planning.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

RVG
what do they meant 'avoidable circumstances'???? Did they explain to you? the shippment date? but don't worry, you still have time, I hope everything will work out for you.

MrsG, so u r moving to London... I am happy that you and your husband can fianlly live together,
but I am sad that you are leaving us (leaving U.S. too..)
Craznan,
we are using 1 indian photog.and 1 non.
It is differcult decision, coz I think there are many many great non-indian photog. are so so so amazing and love love love their work, but for us, we think indian photog. know more about the indian weddings and know what to take. So I think it really depends on what you are looking for.
If you want more tranditional indian wedding, maybe it is better for indian photog. but I personally think Angelica Glass , Sherwood and Thomas Paul are amazing I think they won't have any problem with Feb wedding.

Leena and jlu, how u doing?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

hey GG --
we are going for 2 years only, so thats nice.. atleast we get to come back to our friends and family... we gotta have that desi GTG before i leave!!!!

about the 2 photographers... did u guys make sure that the other photographer allows that? because SIB didnt allow it, it was written in their contract that they were to be the sole photographers..

RGV -- yeah, what does avoidable circumstances mean??? what excuse are they giving? its hard to work with a compay from india from the internet... i worked with some but i visited their stores first when i was in bombay and then continued to work with them... you should call them evey day and see if you can talk to the managers.. good luck!!!!

MrsG
Oh no, we are not having 2 photog. in the same day, 2 differnet events, the day we have our ceremony in Gurdwara, we have the indian photog. and other day we have non-indian.
I heard story that both bride/groom side family hired 1 photog. and it was a diasater. coz both photog. fough to take pictures..

and you better come back
