Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I think like house of dipali on hillside ave sells those type of little things since they have soo much nice stuff in there.

Since I'm having a lot of non-indians at my wedding, I was thinking about some neutral favors but not sure exactly what yet.

Hey I need Dj help badddddd. I was thinking about DJ Sharad and need some more suggestions.....what have the past brides used that they absolutely loved??? Anything would be great!!!

Also, the color of those saris are beautiful, your bm's are gonna look awesome!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Craznan,

We used DJ Yogesh, we LOVED him, our guests were raving about him, he plays the dhol for the baraat and gets your guests involved during the dancing,
we definitely wanted someone more mature as opposed to a young DJ that you find spinning in indian parties... Yogesh is abit older but can really MC professionally... nothing ghetto :)

ialso believe his prices are a bit more reasonable than sharad..

let me know if you need more info about him and i'll FM...

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Mrs G, was your wedding in New York or NJ? I'm skeptical with using out of town vendors since my wedding will be in the winter. Weather will always be an issue....but you say that you guys loved him?? I just checked out his website, not bad, so maybe I'll call and see if they can stay overnight or something closeby to prevent weather-related lateness, u know.

ggcopying, I heard of DJ Kucha but circumstances beyond my control, he knows a lot of people on the grooms side, but not in a great way, so we're not inclined to use him, thanks though.

Any other ideas on dj's?????

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hey Craznan,

Our wedding was in Long Island, he was prompt but that was only for my event so i dont know what his track record is...
he seemed pretty reliable, my friend and also bestfriend's brother used yogesh.... they never complained.. but i see your concern about weather, talk it over with him, he's extremely accomodating.... DH and i were undecided about a few songs even 2 days before the wedding and he was still trying to work with us, finding songs etc... I've heard Kucha is good, but your reason sounds legit not to use him...

good luck!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Leena,

I did a candy bar, and ordered the individual jars from the jar store www.thejarstore.com

each jar cost me 0.90 (5 oz jar), which is great if you do it per couple...

we left the individual jars empty so the guests could fill their own candy but you can prefill it with M&Ms or conversation hearts, even 2 fortune cookies...

and you dont have to use it for just candy, you can make them into candles... nothing else is coming to me at the moment..... hmmmm..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Thanks for all your help guys.....i'll check them both out and see what happens.

That favor idea was great with the jars. I'm definately using candy but not sure yet on how I wanna display it. The benefit of a winter wedding is that I don't have to worry about the chocolate melting at least. I was also thinking about using candle voltives with our names on it. What do you guys think???

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Craznan, in that case I guess DJ Kucha is not for you.. but I actually laugh when I was reading your post because these thing happen all the time, and I HAVE to use certain vendor because someone know someone, in you case, it is opposite..

just make sure your hall let you use voltives with paper outside. Some hall dont' allow it, check with your hall first

My friend had a 'candy buffet' as favor, she use nice bag with her and her husband 's name on it and let the guess fill it themselves. I like the jar idea too.
