Re: ***Official Leonards of Great Neck Thread***

Yey - I finally found the active Leonards' thread!

Hi girlies - my reception is at leonards!

I've about 400 guests, so i'm in the grand ballroom or wtever they call it.

i liked the leonards setting and my BM patrick overrall wen i met w/ him a few months ago and booked at leonards. Since then he left leonards and so i met w/ another guy called Ian.

A couple of things have changed and i'm not sure wt to do w/ it....

- The NEW menu (anyone picked the new menu vs. the old?) I actually like the old appetizer menu much better! What do u guys think?

- Leonards CAKE (from my convo w/ Patrick, i was told there is a whole cake book that i can pick from and the cost of the cake wud be covered by leonards).. I met w/ Ian, and find out that only 2 cakes out of the entire book is included in that. I'm on a budget, so i'm goign to end up picking one of the 2 cakes. Any suggestions on fillings? What's everyone else getting? My wedding is in august in the middle of the summer, so i dont know whether to get 'butter cream' or 'whipped cream'. lol

Let me know ur thoughts.....

Re: ***Official Leonards of Great Neck Thread***

Just left Leonard's today and I am so happy with my meeting. I went with a long list of questions and they were answered without me calling them off one by one. I was able to attend the food tasting and was satisfied.
New addtions to menu consists of: hot and sweet italian dried sausages, fire roasted red peppers, bruschetta, vegetable crudite, steak pizziola, sesame chicken, sweet and sour pork, just to name a few.

The grounds look great with the new bloom.

Did Patrick really leave? I called a couple of days ago and they said he was on leave and I did find that kind of wierd but I assumed that he was on vacation or something...I wonder why he left? That's insane!

yea - patrick left on a leave of absence and they don't know if he's coming back. I'd recommend meeting with another BM.

Re: ***Official Leonards of Great Neck Thread***

My meeting with Ian was very informative. He answered all of my questions. What I did was compile a list if questions beforehand. One thing that I liked was that the CH food was negotiable. So, you can ask about that. Also, I asked about food, rehearsal (which would cost $200)!!! , decor, table sizes. He will cover everything. It is best to go to a food tasting prior to meeting with him as well. He will tell you how much to tip the maitre'd and bridal attendant. When I first booked with them, they told me that his tip was inclusive. Was anyone else told this?

I am using their outdoors for my ceremony. I forgot to ask him what chairs are being used. They had these ugly green $2.99 lawn chairs set up during the winter. I don't want to use those. So, I am going to call him back on that.

I will inform everyone as time goes on. Are there any other past Leonard's brides that can enlighten us on some of the questiosn to ask?

YES! When I had first gone to see Leonards, Antonio told us that the tip was included. We later booked with Maurizio (and have gone to him with our questions ever since), but we never discussed the maitr'd's tip.

Nor am I too worried about that since a tip is not required, but rather is up to us depending on how good his service is during the evening. I've heard that the usual rate is $3-$5 per person. Did he suggest more?

Re: ***Official Leonards of Great Neck Thread***

He did quote $3-$5 dollars, but I thought his tip was included in the price. That means my tip should be optional, so their shouldn't be a set amount placed on it. Those were quotes that I had received from other vendors who didn't have the tip included, so that's what baffled me. I am definitely going to tip, because I found a maitre'd on Saturday, and I requested to have him on my wedding night. He was very friendly and helpful. His name is Drew.

Re: ***Official Leonards of Great Neck Thread***

We were told tax and tip were included.
Anything extra is up to us, but I think we will tip a lil bit!
