Did any of you ladies use Richard for flowers? Was it a good experience? If not, why? Thanks!
I am using Richard for our reception flowers and madison florist for my personals and the church, since they are in brooklyn also and i felt more at ease with them being so close.
richard came in 25 dollars less for each centerpiece than our lowest quote and 125 dollars less than our highest quote.
he was so nice and knew exactly what i wanted them to look like

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Been a little busy since my meeting at FH, but a couple of things-Just because I made the appointment with Jenn did not mean that I met with Jenn. I met with Annmarie, who was perfectly able to answer my questions (or got Frank when she wasn't). I wasn't thrilled that Jenn wasn't clear who I was meeting with, but I guess in the end it doesn't matter.
A few things that Ron promised us are not being given-
Apparently he misquoted me the price for vendors & kids.. twice.. and Susan also confirmed the wrong amount. So it's not a significant difference, but it seriously rubbed me the wrong way.
Frank was kind enough to offer us an extra thing for the cocktail hour, so that will be a nice addition.
I'm COMPLETELY stressing the cake. Ron told us we could bring in a picture and the bakery would make anything. I purposely looked for ideas of very simple cakes- wasn't expecting them to do anything elaborate. At the meeting, we were told that the cakes in the book are the only choices.. we might be able to pay more for some changes (i wanted sugar pearls, not blobs of frosting), and we can pay $300 to upgrade to fondant. I really honestly hated the cake choices.. felt that with the exception of 1 or 2, they're extremely outdated.
I am considering going to an outside vendor for the cake. I spoke with Mike, the general manager.. wasn't really satisfied with his answer that a cake is really only worth 'thirty five or forty cents a slice' when most other LI venues happily credit $1.50 or $2.00 a slice. He offered a few things in exchange, but i'm not sure..
Has anyone else gotten any sort of credit for foregoing the cake? I'm not expecting a monetary credit, but something more than an extra chafing dish..

I agree that most places give at least a $1 for a credit for the cake per person. I would definitely make a stink!

This rubs ME the wrong way... so I can just imagine how you feel!
I was quoted 1/3rd off for vendors and kids under 10 once we meet our min... is that right?

Ok so I guess about the cake situation (cause I am anti icing-blob too & wonder what the fondant would look like) the next question to ask is who got cakes from outside of FH?

What's wrong with the cakes? I took a look, but I was so overwhelmed by the whole booking process that it flew by me.... Are they too plain?
I heard somewhere that your florist can decorate the cake for you, is that true?

Be happy that they offered you a credit at all. I got nothing for not using their cakes because I was less than pleased with them. I used Cakes by Jay and loved him. FM if you want his contact info!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Thanks everyone for the responses!- The kids/vendors price is definitely 1/3 OFF
- They called today and said they would be able to work with me a little in terms of changing the cake- they could use the little pearl things if I wanted.
- They did offer either an ice sculpture or extra chafing dish for the cocktail hour. I know that some people would love an ice sculpture, but it doesn't do all that much for me.. but if those are my only choices, i guess i would take that- there is already going to be so much food.
- Browneyes- I emailed you when I saw that we had the same date & hall (at least a month ago)- I bet the email never went through- this website isn't the greatest technically! I would love to chat more about our days- feel free to email me- nycemmy at gmail.
Are you the 12:30 start? We're 11:30. It is nice that they stagger them- we just went to a wedding at Woodbury Country Club (gorgeous, i should have looked at it) and all of the guests for both weddings waited in the lobby together and it got crowded. I love that Fox Hollow gives the guests a place to go.
I do want to say that while I was very upset about all of this (and am still not thrilled), I do at least appreciate that they are trying to work with me.
The cakes are not THAT bad.. i think the problem is that we all watch Ace of Cakes and see these insane productions in wedding magazines and so their selection just seems really limited. They are definitely outdated though. I didn't realize this would be a priority for me, but I guess it is. So we're going to use an outside vendor. I think we're going to go with Sweet Karma Desserts in East Meadow.. don't tell my fiance, but i'm getting him a grooms cake there and I was totally wowed by what they had and how awesome the staff, particularly Brian, the baker/owner was. If I'm already having them deliver one cake, might as well have them do two, plus they do great work!
I will keep you guys posted- thanks again!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
I didnt like the cakes either in the book they showed me. Very old fashioned and very place. We were told the SAME thing about bringing in a picture and depending on the design of it, it could be replicated at no additional cost. I explained at the FIRST meeting I didn't want fondant and I am happy with buttercream but I wanted it to be mocha colored (ivory-ish) with chocolate piping and he said not even an issue, definitely do-able.Cut to now and it's an extra 150 bucks for the chocolate piping and mocha colored buttercream. I was pissed but FH decided in the grand scheme of things, 150 isn't that much and he said ok to the extra cost.
I scheduled my meeting with Jen and I to was passed on ti AnnMarie.
Kids and Vendors are only 1/3 off OVER your minimum. So if your min. is 200 full-priced guests. After that they are 1/3rd off.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
yes, good clarification- the kid/vendor price is only after you meet the minimum. i am not that worried about my minimum, so i am just thinking of it as 1/3 off.. but you're right.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
So my FH and I took a couple of friends to dinner at the Red Hunt Club at Fox Hollow. As promised we did get free drinks and appetizers (our whole party -- not just FH and I) The food was delicious, and I took a sneak peak at a wedding in the WGP while we were walking by... beautiful. Every time we go to the Fox Hollow I get more and more excited about our wedding. The food was delicious!! We loved it. The service was great too. It was a little pricey but totally worth it. If you all get the chance I recommend you go to the restaurant. FH and I are going to go again on the 'one year until our wedding' date.

Did you go to dinner there Saturday night? Because if you did, you may have seen my wedding in the WGP!!! It was absolutely beautiful and fantastic...for all the concerns we may have had before the day, everything was absolutely perfect yesterday.

We were there Saturday night! And I did take two peeks into the WGP when we first walked in at 6, and then again around 8 they seemed to be setting something up... it was all so beautiful... glad you had a wonderful day!!

i dont think anyone there knows their cake credit policy. I had panic attacks over this cus DHs mom gave us our cake as a gift. I had been told we would get $150 to use towards a cake with an outside vendor. I was then told they gave an additional amount of money or discount to use cakes by Jay, plus he offered Fox Hollow brides a discount. Jay did offer the discount, however, we got NOTHING from Fox Hollow towards the cake. I made soooooooooo many calls trying to clear this up and they wouldnt call me back for the longest time. DH's parents were pretty upset about it, but finally just said to leave it alone as it was stressing us all out. it wasn't fun at all.
