Ladies-

I am freaking out….my job is killing me!!! I am too busy to even remember that I am getting married and traveling so much that I can’t get anything done. Why is this happening now when I want to be able to focus on my wedding? Why am I being challenged this way? I havent cried yet...but the tears are well on the way.

Anyway, after not sleeping all night I realized that I have a questions that are doing just that, keeping me up at night. They are not that big, I guess, but with everything else going on I …… I don’t know. I guess I will just ask my questions:

Here is some background: I am getting married at 7p on a Friday in July. The cocktail hour is in the 7:30 Winter Pavilion and reception in the 8:30 Briar Fox. I will have about 150 attending

1. What are your thoughts on the room selections? I keep flip flopping. I love the Winter Pavilion but am not sure how it would be for a reception….what do you guys think of my room selections.
2. If I changed my mind will it be much of an issue to change? Ken is my BM.
3. I do not want my FH to see be before the ceremony which starts at 7p. Will pictures be an issue? Do you guys think that I will be able to have a receiving line?
4. If I wanted to change the wedding start time from 7 to 6, do you think that will be an issue?
5. Is anyone having their rehearsal dinner at the Fox Hollow? Is that even possible. Some of you have mentioned that there is a brief rehearsal before the ceremony but again, I don’t want him to see me…..
6. DOC – is it really worth it?
7. Honeymoon night – we have booked the honeymoon suite at the FH Inn. I am guessing that will be ok….right?
8. Champagne choice – will we be able to select a champagne of our choice? We are not too fancy just regular folks but I am not sure what they will wan to serve.
9. Back to the reception, do you think they will move the pictures in the Briar Fox because I hate them. How about the curtains?
10. Bravo DJ’s – anyone using them?
11. Dresses – been to Klienfelds (hated it!) and found a great dress, Saks where they didn’t have many dresses to choose from…where should I be looking? I am trying to pick my dress in the next too weeks.
12. Travel agents - We want to goto Turks and Caicos....does anyone know any great travel agents?

Ok, I think that’s it. I will post more if I have more….today is my wedding focus day so I am going to be all over the place.

Ladies, I appreciate your help and support. We are all going to be amazing brides and wives! Now, I am going to have a glass of wine…it is 5p somewhere in the world…right?

I'll answer what I can.
I had 140 people in the WGP for our reception. We could ahve easily fit another 10 people and been comfortable. That room is why we chose Fox Hollow. it wont be a big deal to change unless they already booked it for that night. We did our photos beforehand. We didn't want to miss our cocktail hour. I don't see why you can't have a recieving line. I don't know if they let you chose a specific champagne without charging extra to bring it in for you. We stayed at the Inn that night and it was very nice! I am not sure they will take decor out of the ballroom. This is why its important to chose a room you already love as is. I do know a great travel agent in Mineola. His name is Fred and he is from la Petite Travel. FM if you want his number.

Thanks to all for your help. I have a call into Ken but have not heard back yet. I am really starting to get nervous.....I will let you know how it turns out. I am so excited and have over eight months to wait before our big day! Thank goodness I have you gals to chat with!

Hi girls, I have a cake question, does the fh make any cake you want or do you have to chose a design that they have?? Also, how are the cakes there???

We recently were discussing this a few weeks ago...probably a few pages back. The bakery is Egra Bakery in Bethpage. Some girls have voiced concerns about them. Apparently you have to be incredibly clear with what you want. They will design whatever you want but make sure you have pictures. I bought a cake from the bakery about 2 months ago and it was excellent.

Actually, the choice of what the cake looks like is limited to some degree, more simple designs, the fancier you get it may be an extra charge. Also if you want fondant or special fillings it is extra too. I was very concerned about the cake issue but went to Erga and tasted their cake (one they threw together on the spot) and it was delicious, so I am sure that the one they actually take time to make will be fabulous.

Hey Fox Hollow girls.....

Just popping in to say......... WE'RE MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CC11208
You've been married:
2 Days 3 Hours
36 Minutes 12 Seconds

I can't believe that we're married!!!! Our wedding was absolutely perfect!!!!!!! I'll be posting pictures that my mom, sister & brother-in-law took.... if I can't resize them, they'll be in my album.

And I have to say that Fox Hollow did an AMAZING job!!!!!!! The food, the service, our Maitre'd Megan, our Bridal Attendant Jen, the waitstaff, Jose who met with us for final arrangements and then sprinkled all my rose petals over all the tables, and everyone over at the Inn next door...... just absolutely phenomenal!!!! I could barely eat anything that day, and they boxed up food for us and brought it back to our room next door. I'm actually snacking on some chicken francaise from our cocktail hour right now! They sent us home with leftover cake and cookies from the Viennese hour, and I'm so grateful for that, because I barely ate anything!! We went to our CH, and I saw my sisters and DH's brother (my new BIL!) sitting at a corner table.... so I whispered, 'how's the food?' because I KNOW they'd be totally honest, and they were completely impressed with how delicious everything was!! We got the cake that was included in our contract, and not only did they copy the design pics I gave them, the chocolate cake with cannoli filling was delicious!!!

All evening, Megan and Jen were very attentive, kept getting us drinks based on what we had been drinking earlier, got my husband his mudslides that he had requested. They took good care of my dad and my DH's mom, both of whom couldn't stand too long.

The ceremony was so beautiful!!! They did a quick rehearsal about 1/2 hour before, and since we had a small BP, it went quickly. The weather was sunny, so the Lantern Garden room was lit beautifully with sunlight streaks. I had asked for 4 chairs to be placed under the chuppah for our parents so they wouldn't have to stand the whole time, and not only did they do that, they arranged the chairs in a way that included our parents and made for great pictures of everyone there.

We signed the ketubah in the photo studio, and they had some food set up for everyone there too. When DH and I escaped up to the bridal suite after our ceremony for the 'yichud' (a Jewish tradition where bride & groom spend a few minutes alone after the ceremony), our MD and BA brought up food for us to enjoy. I was really afraid to eat and have stomach issues, so I just took a taste, but mmmmmmmmm!!!

Thanks to some previous Fox Hollow brides, I was inspired to recreate some of my favorite photos of theirs, and our photographer was wonderful about helping us to do that! I've always loved 'fainting couches' and when I saw that chaise lounge in the Photo Studio, I kept thinking of the past bride who did that, plus I saw in the Vogue spread of the 'Sex & the City' movie that Carrie did that..... so we used that as a backdrop. We also recreated Davenjess's photo kissing in between the double doors to the entrance (I think Frank wasn't happy about us holding the doors open for a few minutes!!) but we got the shot!! And we also did the shot from above near the stairs in the Inn next door. That was so much fun!!!!

DH and I keep saying to each other that we had the best of both worlds, getting married on the same day as daylight savings, because we had sunlight streaking through the Winter Garden pavillion, and then it turned to dusk, and when darkness came, they lit up the room in an amber glow from the chandeliers and the candles we had on each table. It was just spectacular!!

I'm going to write a mini-review of Fox Hollow and all vendors and post it later tonight. Both DH and I took off Monday and were back to work today, so I barely got to see the photos my family took... I'm going to go through some of them now. My BIL burned a CD for me, but the pics are slow to copy to my hard drive. I'll be posting some more later tonight....... for now, here's a preview......

Thanks so much for taking the time to fill us all in, it really gets me excited to be getting married at Fox Hollow! You look absolutely beautiful, can't wait to see more pics! I am also glad to hear they sent you home with food since when I asked Dave about this when I booked he told me no!!

Congrats!!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Thank you ladies!! I'm usually very self-critical of how I look, but I felt beautiful in that dress on my wedding day!!! I posted some more pics in my album.... I think there are about 16 now.

The BM dresses were Blue Velvet from David's Bridal and the guys got their suits from Dante Zeller. We tried to match the vest/tie colors to the girls' dresses, but didn't have swatches. It just worked out perfectly though!

As for Fox Hollow with the food, I have major digestive issues from a residual health problem, so at every meeting, I just kept telling them that I was insisting on having food packed up for me because I wasn't able to eat at my own wedding. In all honesty, I had about 2 bites of chicken francaise that the BA brought from CH to our bridal suite, and I ate about 1/2 of my chicken cutlet from the entree. I had 2 olives from the antipasto and that was it, since everything else would have bothered my stomach. And I had about 3 bites of wedding cake for dessert. Also, DH and I both have serious food allergies (me: shellfish & him: all citrus fruits) and made sure that they kept those away from us. During our menu/linen meeting with Annmarie, DH and I insisted that she write everything down into our contract, considering that we tried to have that done earlier when we first booked, and our BM didn't do that. So if you need to pack food for later since you can't eat during the reception, tell them exactly what you want packed up. We were also under our minimum (many people cancelled at the last minute due to the economy and illness), so they packed those dinners for us, since we had to pay for them anyway.

Something really nice I forgot to write before....... my MIL was telling me yesterday that she needed tylenol and couldn't get back to her room to get it. She's diabetic and can only take certain meds. One of the waiters not only went out of his way to get it for her, but also made sure it was safe for her to take, asking how much she had to drink, if it was ok for her to take that or another medicine, etc. She was very touched by how the staff cared for all of us during the whole day.

Q for ladies already married:

For the Alphabetical Guest List, do they want to know the names of EVERYONE coming to the wedding? Or can I just put Mr. & Mrs. Smith Table 13 or Smith Family Table 13?
Because I have to admit that I don't know the names of everyone coming to the wedding. Especially on FH's side.

They want each individual name.

what if it just says and guest??? then what?

Then I guess you're gonna have to find out the guest name. Oh man, this is gonna suck.

We put and guest or Mr. and Mrs. and had no problem.

Oh, good to know. Thank you.

Question for Garden Terrace girls: With the long tables did anyone actually have 14 people on a table? If so, was it crowded?

The most I had at a table was 13 and would not recommend going higher than that. It definitely looked a little tight!! 11 or 12 is my recommendation.

I was after you were going to say that!! We have 2-3 tables of 14 because there is just nothing else we can do. One of the tables is FIL's! To avoid arguements we have to put all of their brothers and sisters with them so it comes to 14 people. I'm after they are going to be very crowded esp. since FFIL and Fh's uncle are big guys!
