I am in such a dilemma about this (but am not quite ready to block rooms, yet!) We have a lot of OOT guests, but I couldn't imagine them paying 200 per night for a room!

I get a discount at the Executive Inn at Woodbury but have never stayed there... if it's nasty, then... ick!

I guess I'll just wait and see. I'm not going to block rooms until about 6 months before my wedding.

i blocked rooms at the executive inn but gave guests info on both the executive and fox hollow inn. I did not want to be responsible for unbooked rooms so did not book at the FH. This way guests have the option to book at whatever location they want if money is a concern.

I'm going to block rooms in two hotels. Defiantly the Fox Hollow only because I can guarantee 5 rooms all ready between myself, bridal party, and mine and his parents. I'm sure that even if I give an option at least 2 more people will choose the Fox Hollow just because it's more convenient, especially for out of town guests who do not know the area.

I was thinking of looking into the Sheraton as a 2nd location, I heard good things about them from another bride. But I will check out the executive inn as well. (Keeping all options open at this point, I still have some time)

Does anyone know if we were to block 10 rooms now, but more rooms are needed due to more guests wanting to stay, do they automatically add rooms for you at the discount price? do you have to call and have them block more rooms?

What is the maximum in advance the rooms have to be booked by if they are blocked? (So if say my aunt decides a week before the wedding she wants to stay there is that too close to the wedding even if I didn't have all the blocked rooms filled?)

Also, if the minimum is not met, and we have to pay for say 2 rooms anyway, do you think we could say that we are going to stay the night before just for the hell of it?

I'll have to remember to write all this down and bring it with me to get it clarified if none of you guys all ready know.

Sorry, one more question. One reason I had wanted to block early is that for the out of town guests (and anyone else I know is going to stay the night), I was gonna send all the hotel info in with the save the dates. Is this common to do?

I was told the minimum block was 10 nights (not rooms). I'm staying the night before so that counts as one night, FH and I on the wedding night counts as the 2nd...we would have to fill 5 others to meet the 7 night minimum. Lets make sure to clarify this at brunch ladies.

That is interesting, definitely need to ask, but if we get a free stay it will not count as a room or night I am sure so we need to take that into account too.

Does anyone else have a problem with the rooms being so expensive? Do you think if all of us at the brunch raise this concern he might lower the prices? The economy is HORRIBLE right now and to ask people to spend that much on one night for a wedding is just too much.

The price of the room with the discount is $190 in the off season. Keep in mind that it is a suite. I don't think that's alot of money at all.

$190 plus all the taxes comes to over $200. I guess we all have different situations with finances. I couldn't afford to go to a wedding and shell out over $500 for the night. Between a gift, travels and accomodations. I feel bad for my guests. I know they are suites, but Victor told me that is the room for a studio suite. So a room with a king size bed and a small fridge is considered a suite. It's not the one bedroom two beds suite you see on the website.

teh rooms are 189 per night & if you getthe double beds peole can share & split the cost! If you feel that this is still to expensive then check-out the other options nearby. Im sure they will have good prices.

I am getting married in July and interested to see what rate will be as I assume it will not be the same for all of us depending on when we are getting married.

We booked rooms at the Fox Hollow as well as the Best Western. The Executive Inn creeped me out. I was worried about the 75% guarantee but we ended up having to increase our block. We ended up with 27 nights booked. We also had guests stay and the Best Western (about 11 nights) and the liked it as well. No complaints. Also, the guests from the Best Western came to breakfast the following morning. My parents were able to pay the Fox Hollow for their breakfast even though they didn't book the room. It was nice to have everyone together the next morning.

Just want to let you girls know a few months ago, my mother and I went Executive Inn/best western in woodbury. Honestly, I didnt ahve the best impression and customer service was bad. The rooms were tiny, I mean tiny....I could never see my fbil, his wife and 3 children sleeping in there. The people were rude. The room also smelt musty.

Maybe it was an off day.....but we decided to get block at Fox Hollow Inn, I have to call victor actually.

I know we had a few guests stay at the Executive Inn, but I never found out how their stay really was.

What I do know is that my own parents booked a room there and stayed there a few nights prior to the wedding. They were less than thrilled with their experience there. They had been staying further out on the island, and moved to the Executive to be closer to Fox Hollow so they'd be on time in the morning for photos.

The night of my wedding, they went back to their room and could not get in the door. My dad said that one of the workers actually had to break the window screen from outside, come through the window and unlock the door for them. There were a few other issues they had, and so they packed up and left to go back to the previous hotel. I think customer service gave them their money back for the night, but I know that they weren't pleased with the service there.

There is the Marriot, West of Fox Hollow.

The Best western to the east of Fox Hollow, close to the executive inn. I believe all on 25.

Then there is the Holiday inn, in Plainview off of the LIE which is a pretty short ride as well as the Four points Sheridan in Plainview on the South Service Road of the LIE and then the Melville Mariott is a little bit longer of a ride but not too bad. This one is on/near rte 110 an the LIE I believe. I have the exact address and phone numbers or you can google 'Hotels near Woodbury NY'. That is what I did to find the info a few weeks ago and a list of hotels with links to their websites appear along with a map. :) Oh yea, and reviews which I sometimes find pretty helpful.

Did you find if hard to wake up in time for breakfast? I'm thinking that my ceremony starts at 7pm and I'm pretty sure goes to 12:30am. Would most guests even make it to breakfast?

I think that breakfast was until 10 on the weekends. I know that a couple of my guests didn't make it. My DH and I were up at 7 am. The early morning there was nice and calm, however as it got closer to the end of breakfast it got CROWDED. That was my only problem with the Inn. We just kept adding people to our table and switching people out. It would probably be less crowded in nicer weather since I think that there were outside tables. (too cold for those in early March).

For anyone who did a candy buffet can you post pics. I am doing one but i just want to get an idea of how it's set up on the table. I don't want bowls or jars of candy to be thrown on a table I want some kind of flair to it you know.
