Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
I discussed the cake issue at my contract signing and Dave was basically like the cake is only worth about $200 so they can't do much but they would see.. He told me that 'he has to pay the cake guy salary for the day regardless of if he bakes the cake or not.' I was then later told on this thread that they get the cakes from an outside company so who knows..(I was strongly opposed to the cakes they showed me)

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
I think I decided no wedding planner but as for DOC I'm a little confused. Do I need a DOC? I've read many posts that said the Fox Hollow did a good job of packing your stuff, setting up tables and ensuring all goes well, but was that with a DOC?Past brides, did you have one? What were the pros/cons to having/not having one?
Thanks

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Just a question because my FMIL brought it up - she said we HAVE to bring our own cake knife/server because reception halls don't have them ??? I find that odd being that they serve cake & such in their restaurant....I know its a whole 'heirloom' thing.. but im not one to buy an expensive cake knife if i dont have to...
Do i have to bring my own cake knife/server??

I am 90% sure Fox Hollow will provide one for you if you don't have one. I believe an 08 bride used the Fox Hollow cake server set.

Fox Hollow has Cake Knives and Servers you can use if you don't have your own. They also have Toasting Flutes.Yeah, the cake is only worth like 20 cents a slice or something absurd like that. So, if you don't get the cake it's only worth about $200. So, unless if you want to pay for an outside vendor I would suggest getting one of their cakes and trying to dress it up. They will let you modify their cakes. If it's something simple they won't charge extra for it.

We're blocking rooms at the Fox Hollow Inn? Can anyone tell me if they provide cards to include in our invitations with directions or just stating that rooms have been blocked for guests?

I'm not blcking rooms there, but when i went to the Fox Hollow to pick up direction cards for the reception hall, on the back of the directions was all the info for the Inn...I don't have one handy to scan so you can see... maybe someone else does..

I agree that the Fox Hollow should have one, but you can also borrow one. Did your parent or in laws receive a set for their wedding that you can use?

They definitely have them. This was a question i asked Ann Marie when we went to our final arrangements meeting on 11/6 and she said they definitely have the cake cutting utensils as well as the toasting flutes. She said it's just that most brides usually supply their own bececause it was either a gift or they were personalized or something like that. I asked her b/c since those things were not at the top of my list, if i didn't get a chance to get them or didn't get it at my shower, i would just use theirs.

For only being worth $200, that cake was DELICIOUS!!!!! We went with the cake that came included with our pp price, chose chocolate cake, cannoli filling and buttercream frosting. I brought 2 photos of other cake designs that I LOVED, and asked if we could modify one of the cakes in their book. We chose a square cake, asked for the tiers to be 'caddy corner,' and then I asked for a heart design to match our heart cake topper and hearts in the cake photo I brought with us. Our meeting was with AnnMarie, and she clipped the photos into our folder so the baker would know what we wanted. Fox Hollow did an AMAZING job with the cake and again, it was delicious!! They sent us home with leftover cake, plus the cake top placed in a box on which the staff had written a congratulatory message for us from the whole staff. DH and I had a little cake for dessert every night for a week afterwards! We put the cake top in the freezer for our 1 yr anniversary.
I have a photo in my album of the cake we had, if you want to take a look.

Thanks ladies.. i did actually register for toasting flutes and cake knife server set...but if i dont get them, i just dontwant to spend the money on them...i can put that money towards something more important like PAYING for the wedding!! LOL... I'm not one of those people that needs 100 keepsakes of every detail of my wedding...to me the pictures and video will be enough -
Good to know they have this stuff for me to use if i dont get them at the shower...but i probably will esp since i know people like to be the one to say 'oh i got them those toasting flutes they're using' ..lol

It was a regular cardboard bakery box. I transferred the cake to another container and wrapped it really well to put it in the freezer.

I know i posted this before on here just don't know where...but for those who did a candy buffet can you please post a pic. I want to get an idea of how the hall sets it up. I don't want them to just put bowls of candy on a table. I want it to have some design or flair to it. I want people to really like it. Thanks a lot ladies.

Yeah, I mean it's not like I've even met him- we spoke once over the phone and I'm under the impression that the 400 bucks goes straight to him so in my opinion, for a 20 minute ceremony, it's plenty- maybe I'm just a newbie to this and don't know the etiquette but that's how I feel right now lol.
We used Rev. Nick and I think we were going to tip him but then forgot! Unless someone did it without me knowing! You are right though he gets all of that money and it's a lot! The ceremony is not that long!

Oh I just wanted to add too that he did a great job. I had never met him or his wife but I talked to his wife on the phone a few times, I never actualy talked to him. But he did an awesome job and made some jokes, it was very comfortable. I thought I was going to cry either walking down the aisle or during the ceremony but I didn't!!!Welcome New Vendors
