Re: Swan Club Brides

I actually read that swans are one of the few animals that mate with one partner for life. Isn't that cute?

Hey ladies!!!!

Wow three of us here
How are you all with planning?

I am not doing anything swan related... Very cute though!!!!!

I'm enjoying it... I meeting with photographers this week...

I finally decided my colors... Pink and Brown( my Fav's)

I still need a florist and BM dresses.

It's difficult for me because I live in the Bronx, and work in westchester.. most of the vendors I am interested in are out on the Island.

Re: Swan Club Brides

How cute! Only animal to mate for life!!! Love it!

Pink and brown is SO cute! There is a theme forumn here with GREAT ideas for flowers, placecards etc...

Our photog is in manhattan www.araisininthesun.com

Here is where we/I am:

So far I:

Have my gown (sample sale at Saks!)

Have the reception place (Swan Club on LI)

Have the church (FH's family’s church in Elmont LI same minister that married Tim’s parents 45 years ago!)

Have our soloist (FH's frat that sings at my church… he is amazing!)

Have a photo (www.araisininthesun.com also a frat brother of Tim’s and does these amazing coffeetable books)

We took a pre-martial class at church…

We registered at 3 places… bloomies (for formal heirloom stuff), crate and barrel (for everyday stuff) and target (for appliances)

We have the day of coordinator and her team will do the floral arrangements

Got our colors: crimson with cream and chocolate brown accents

We are now working on the band (have 3 options), the Videographer (I have one I am working on we are trying to do a video montage at the cocktail hour of our baby, teen, neo and current shots), the ceremony musicians (I am working on a violin, cello, flute trio), bridesmaids dresses (I have an idea same color and length and material but 5 different tops. Went to 3 places… getting close but have not found it exactly)… I have 4 hostesses and they will wear tealength chocolate brown dresses from j crew…

I need to get on:

invitations (have one lead in CT – showed her a sample of what I want) and my accessories… I *may* be able to wear my grandmother’s veil that my mother also wore… Oh and favors (I have 3 ideas… need to find something FH also loves)… I have an idea of the placecards, escort cards and table setting (we are naming them things that have meaning of our courtship) designs… And the runner… I have someone to make our broom… I also have ideas of how I want the church to look and the centerpieces (but I keep adding ideas like everyday!)… We may do different than traditional guestbooks (like books with poloroids and have people sign page with their picture).

WHEW! So much to do!!!! Are any of you overwhelmed????

Re: Swan Club Brides

I have a question.. For those of you that had your Ceremony at the SW... were you allowed to have your guest throw rose petals?... did you walk back up the aisle to greet your guest?.... Did you have a rehearsal?

Re: Swan Club Brides

I was told I could have a rehearsal if I wished to but that it wasn't necessary. I haven't asked about the rose petals yet so that's a great question to ask. I'm interested in finding out myself

So far I have 100 people coming, I'm doing 6 tables on the upper section with the bride and groom at a sweetheart table, and four on the floor by the dance floor. For the Contessa room I'd say a comfortable limit would be 120ish, they can fit six tables by the dance floor but I think it makes the room feel tight, it also depends on how many people you plan to seat at each table, I am doing 10 tables of 10 so far, if we go over 100, I got problems because then I need more flowers..lol

When do you start deciding on a menu????

Usually they all you about a month before your wedding, I went alittle bit early since I would be in the middle of moving during the first week of April, I am happy to report it went very well.

I went with my notes and questions, I am getting the ivory table clothes (the white ones don't go all the way to the floor, FYI) with ivory napkins to be folded to hold my menu cards, basically they tell you when to bring your stuff (favors, flutes, cake topper, etc) a few days before your event.

They give you alittle homework for your table placements, and placecards

the menu was easy since I went there with choices in mind, I took a poll amongst friends and family to see what would be most popular with everyone.

FYI, if your getting married in the Garden room, you can't have tall candlebras, the ceiling is lower downstairs, but in the Contessa Room it's fine :)

Now for the Cake...

They don't give you much options, yellow or chocolate sponge cake with your choice of fillings, also limited, fresh strawberries is what we picked, with regular buttercream icing (NO fondont icing with them) I asked for a 3 tier square cake, let's see what I actually get! I am totally prepared to be disappointed but I trust Laurie (LABlossom) to make it look presentable for me :)

even the BQ Manager made a knowing look when we started talking about the cake, so apparently it's been said before to them about the cake, but I didn't push the subject, I would love to know who exactly the baker is and WHY they haven't changed this person, it must be someone related to them??

If you have any questions fire away...
