hey girls! Did anyone go for their cake tasting yet at audrey's bakery???? Just wondering how you set it up - did you just call the bakery and tell them your getting married at VYC??? and can you pick any cake or are there only certain ones that are included in the package???

I did and it was sooooo delicious!! They don't actually do an official tasting, but if you call Audrey's directly they'll give you a couple of trays with sample cakes and fillings. I think it cost me $10 for all of it.

I have no idea what's included in the VYC package. I'm going for my final menu meeting on April 9th so I can tell you then. Brittny may know though.

I went and ordered 2 tasting cakes and they were delicious. I also finalized my cake with them. You do have a couple of choices, but I am paying about $300 extra because my FH wanted Fondant and thats extra and specific design.

Do they use that room for the reception? It's so small, I wouldn't think that there would be room for a dj and dance floor. We're using that room for the champagne reception prior to our ceremony.

That's such a great idea. Knowing Audreys, I'm sure that they will taste great too!

Re: The First Official Venetian Yacht Club / VYC thread...

Speaking of cakes & Audrey's I spoke with Tom at Audrey's and ordered the cake yesterday. I wanted to go for a tasting but it's sooooo far from me. There is no time between now and the big day to make the trek out to Sayville. We knew the cake we wanted so I just told Tom. They get rave reviews so I'm sure the desserts taste great. We are having a champagne/wine themed wedding so went with the grape arbor cake. It's going to look exactly like this though the icing will be ivory. The cake will be chocolate with chocolate fudge filling..hmm someone was PMS'ing

BTW: In case you were going to ask this cake is an upgrade. We had to pay extra to have this made. At this point who cares anymore? 6 weeks and counting!

That cake is gorgeous!! Can I ask you why that was an upgrade? Was it because it's square?

No the upgrade depends on if you use fondanant and the design costs more. That is what I am paying extra for.

Re: The First Official Venetian Yacht Club / VYC thread...

Thanks ladies!!

It cost more bc VYC is given a few cakes that brides can choose from. If you want something outside of what they provide VYC you have to pay for it. Like Irene said, fondant icing costs extra. The square shape costs extra too. Tom said the price on this was more ($300, which I didn't think was bad) bc the grapes are hand made out of sugar.
