Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

This thread will always seem very ungrateful to me,we have lived without all these registry gifts before the shower so i don't see the big deal!Alot of us are paying for every dime of our weddings&yes it is stressful. It is not about the material things,i don't know what some of you girls will do when you start having children and it actually can't be all about you & your stuffy registries & gifts JMO

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Guess I got lucky! Everyone pretty much stuck the registry and those that didn't knew my style and did good. One thing we got that I think is kinda wierd, but typical of SIL...we each got electric toothbrushes! She is a dental hygenists so I guess so thinks everyone loves electric toothbrushes. And i think she spent a pretty penny on them too! I mean, I went to school for anthropology, but I don't give people neanderthal skulls as gifts? ha!

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I got some beautiful crystal vases that I kept and one Lenox vase. I am not a Lenox fan and neither DH nor I liked it very much. I regifted it to Grandma and she loved it! I hope she didn't figure out it's a regift, but it looked like something she would enjoy more than us. I don't have room for nick-nacky things yet.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Allure, if this post bothers you so much and that you seem to keep posting how much all of us ingrates with our 'stuffy' gifts, PLEASE STAY OUT OF IT!!

Geez, none of us were meaning to say that we were ungrateful about gifts we received, most of us were saying they really aren't our style type of gifts and nothing more. Not that we are all unappreciative!!

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Allure - Thank you for reminding us AGAIN how ungrateful you think we all are. You are grateful for everything you have received, you have never gotten a bad gift and you are a much better person than us. We get the point!

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

wow - what happened to our friendly conversation?

Allure - I understand your point that we should be focusiing on the positive, and not negative, but I think us newlyweds are VERY appreciative of all that our friends and family have done for us. This thread in particular is to laugh about the not-so-great gifts, or ones we didn't need. We're each entitled to your opinion, and you've stated yours, a few times too.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Convection oven from my stepmother. My sister tried to tell her to stick to the registry, but she thought that the oven would be useful for us. We have a small kitchen, no room for it, so we exchanged it for a new bed set at Macy's. I even posted here about it, cause I didn't know what to do. When she asked me if we started to use it, I had to be honest and tell her that we exchanged it.

Allure,
We HAVE had posts here about the best and favorite gifts we got from our registry. You have a right to your opinion, but mine is that if you continue to hang out with us here, YOU might just turn out to be as STUFFY as us!

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Natasha,
I think she was a little suprised, but didn't seem hurt. I think it just confirmed that what my sister was saying to her about us needing and wanting stuff from the registry, but she insisted on not buying from it. She even said to my sister that the things that I picked out on the registry didn't seem like things that I would need!! I was very grateful for her gift, but it was not something like a picture frame that is small and we could have kept. We have absolutely no room for an big convection oven, we don't even have a microwave in our kitchen.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I'm going to have some explaining to do when my MIL asks why all the lenox she got us isn't on display. We're planning on using the excuse that a box got lost or broken in the cross-country move (and it just happened to have all the lenox ).

I know, I'm evil. Thanks Allure for pointing it out AGAIN! You made your point - why you have to keep mentioning it, I don't understand at all.

Allure, talk to us about our presumed 'ungratefulness' AFTER you've gone through the whole bridal shower/wedding experience

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

This thread is hillarious!!! I guess in some ways we're lucky that we didn't have a huge engagement party, I won't be having a bridal shower and no registry!!!

We did get one of those pancake pans, where you turn the whole pan (i.e. no flipping) as shown on TV. I tried using it and the pancakes burnt!!! But the pancake mix recipe was good, so now I make little baby pancakes on my regular pan!

Otherwise, no crazy gifts for us yet.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

My mom bought that Pancake thing too and she said it only made a mess.

Hubby just bought it too and he is yet to use it. I told him to stick to making the pancakes the way he usually do...AS seen on TV my foot

Re: Shamma...this is for you!

Claud - I have seen glasses like that in the stores still! I think they're cute and you're right, great for cocktail parties!!

I am such a ****er for those as seen on tv things. I probably have half of those IGIA contraptions that never work they way they are supposed to. I'm finally on to them and can usually resist the temptation - of course I had to stop watching paid programming
