Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I think this thread it great. Many of the gifts you girls posted about receiving has really had me laugh out loud. I do not think it is being unappreciative at all. Whether it is a registry or a birthday gift, we have all gotten gifts that are just not what we want or our type. I actually got an engagement gift sent to me that was definately a re-gift. The box was all scratched up and it was some 80s looking cheese set.

Shamma while rest of us hold up our picket signs. You should go over to my mother's house and take that picture. Hopefully, she didn't throw it in the trash.

Trust me ladies, everyone has to see this gift.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I'm a lurker too..and Allure, honey, I COMPLETELY disagree with you. You are way to sensitive about this.

Edited to add: The worst gift I ever recieved was a re-gifted pair of costume jewlery earrings...the backings were different and they came in a velvet box that was covered in years of lint and dust!

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I should add that was a college graduation gift from an EX-boyfriends parents!

Worst engagement gift is definitely the disgusting pair of gold and crystal Mikasa toasting flutes that were purchased at Amazing Savings (sticker still on). The person that gave them to us INSISTED that we use them at the wedding!

YEAH RIGHT!

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Mine was when I was a kid....

Picture a long sleeved white crew neck polyester shirt with a motorcross/dirtbike tire turning up dirt that takes up the whole front of the shirt. Now I laugh, but whenI got it I was upset that I would HAVE to wear it. Why would you give little girls a shirt like that. My sister got one too

Mistey - that's too funny

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I keep on coming to this thread b/c its fun!!!

Allure: you have never received gifts that you disliked? Are you being being serious? Even for something like 'Secret Santa' from coworkers, or a present from a distant relative? My family is made up of immigrants, but even though, I don't always appreciate all the gifts given... Even if the thought counts, some gifts are not meant for me...

What's the big deal?

Ooh ooh I have another one...A Cathy comic desk calendar for my birthday one year from a friend, whom I bought Sony DreamCast for that same year!

I never read Cathy.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

My husband claimed his aunt used to be a seamstress in our homeland. So he asked her to make a dress for me (as a present from him) in hopes that I would ask her to make my BM dresses. He paid her $100 for the dress. The dress was so badly made that I have never worn it, and would never wear it. He wasted his money, and I was ****ed. I still have it in my closet, because I feel bad to throw it away. He may ask about it one day.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

This isn't about me its about the fact that i don't think a bride to be should be crying or complaining that she didnt get everything she needed orWANTED it comes off being very selfish.Of course there have been gifts that i have received for many different reasons that weren't my taste but so what its not the end of my world.I would like to know if all the people that gave you such hideous gifts if they know your true feelings,i think if they do you probably wont be seeing much of anything from these people. My opinion is mine alone and i wont stop expressing it.I f you all take notice this thread was started by a bride who is having a shower soon, and is probably worried more about what she wont get,but to each his own.BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER

Ok, the best gifts weren't given to me, but they are given to hubby by his sisters. This man does not wear sweaters and every year they insist on giving him these hideous sweaters, I wonder where you go to get such ugly sweaters Must be the ugly sweater store I think they fianlly got the hint b/c he has never worn any, they gave him a tie rack this year

Hey birds I am in such great company. I fell honored.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

Allure, you are REALLY reading WAY too much into this.

Jenn started this topic because it's A FUNNY TOPIC. Not because she's afraid of what she'll get! I'm having my shower soon also, and whatever I get, will be welcome, silly gift or not, because inherently it's the thought that counts. Do not attack her for starting a FUN THREAD.

The girls on this post are talking about this for entertainment purposes, and accusing us of being selfish and ungrateful or whiny and crying is just completely ridiculous. You don't know any of us, our situations, or our personalities but for a COMPUTER SCREEN. So making these judgements and breaking into a post JUST to tell people they are selfish when they are having a good time at the EXPENSE OF THINGS THEY NOW OWN, not the people that GAVE THEM THE GIFTS is just COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS.

Lighten up and get out of the post if it bothers you so much, and STOP trying to be the etiquette police.

Shamma-

There is an ugly sweater store. It's at the intersection of Hideously-Colored Yarn Road and Bad Taste Blvd. They have over 170 stores in the TriState area alone!

Ok, I'm another lurker to this thread, came over to Newlyweds out of pure curiousity and read this thread b/c I know my shower is soon. I did not expect to be so thoroughly entertained. 'Nuff said.

Re: What did people buy you off your registry that you didn't register for and did NOT want?

I think this is rather appropriate, I keep thinking I am going to come in here and see more funny bad gifts and all I find is the same responses from Allure stating something that we don't care to hear. Don't spoil the thread for the rest of us, we are having fun. Jen and I was on the phone when she started this thread and I know it was started for laughs. So please let it remain as such.
