btw- just curious if anyone who is having an 11:30 ceremony was told that you couldn't be on the grounds before 9 am?? FH and I were told that he couldn't be there early by Denise b/c there would be no one there to greet him. I really wanted to get a move on the pics so we don't miss the CH at all
My ceremony is at 1130.. I was planning on starting pics at around 9. I was going to have the photographer come to me in the hotel , take a few in there and then go out onto the grounds.... Can we be on the grounds at 9am??
yes 9 am is the official 'start time'. The BA is expected to have set up the bridal suite by them, apparently she has a 'job' which does not only include attending to the BP during the wedding. I was just hoping to be able to start 15 min early
Are you staying at the Inn the night before? I am staying there, so I think that's going to save alot of time.. I won't really need to be in the bridal suite until after pics and before the ceremony...

at what point can you make a request for the BA/Maitre'D?
I would wait until 3 weeks or so before your wedding. They get a schedule I think 2x a week - i was told they get a schedule on the 16th (which is today) so I would imagine they get one on the 1st and one on the 16th. You have to get your request in before schedules are given out, and a request doesn't mean you're getting who you asked for.
ok great thanks for the info!

I spoke to Denis yesterday about this issue. My ceremony is at 1, and we are taking pictures before the ceremony - and so i planned to get there at 9:30. No one told me this was a problem until yesterday. They don't want you getting there more than 2 hours prior to the ceremony - well, there's a rehearsal at 12, and if I am going to take all my pictures there, i have to start at 10 at the latest. They said 3 hours is doable, but after that, they have to charge. Apparently they are supposed to charge for anything over 2 hours prior. Everything is scheduled according to arriving around 10, so i told her that is the best I could do. i mean, we are taking 1 hour for family pics and one hour for just us - and we have to be done by 12 so that a) everyone can rehearse (apparently the bride and groom do not have to rehearse) and b) so that no one will see us outside taking pics when they arrive. I guess they expect you to miss your cocktail hour and take pics then, but we are NOT doing that.

Just wanted to point out that a lot of the time the BA has to step in as part of the wait staff, and at that point the Maitre D should step in and act as the Bridal Attendant and it shouldn't create a problem at all. This happened at my wedding and I couldn't have cared less because my Maitre D was amazing and I was happy to have my guests taken care of as best they could. Just saying that it's not always the Attendants fault.

Hello.I was told I couldn't get there early and if I wanted to get there at 8:30 on a Sunday, I would be charged 100.00, so.... I decided to book a room at the Inn the night before, so this way when my photographer comes at 8:30 we can take pictures in the hotel or on the grounds, weather permitting. Then I am hoping to be allowed in by 9!
Congrats LYSS on your upcoming wedding. Let me know what time you get in!!! Have fun!

So I stopped by Fox Hollow yesterday on my way to my florist appointment so I could pick up direction cards... do they assume everyone in coming from long island??? there are no directions from NJ, Upstate NY, Manhattan..did anyone else have issues with this?? ALOT of my guests are coming from NJ and also upstate NY. I was thinking of attaching a little note to the direction card with directions on how to get to the LIE... even though so many people have GPS or can mapquest the directions, I still think thorough directions should be included in with the invitation.. what did you guys do, or what are you going to do about the directions??
Also, I looked at their placecards.....eeechh.... I'll be doing my own... LOL!!!
Thank you thank you for posting this. I created a new post asking this very same question and everyone just kept saying to use the cards the RH gives but it still won't help people get to any of the highways listed on the cards. What I ended up doing was saying From upstate new york take...from the Bronx take... And then once I direct them of how to make it into queens I then say' follow directions for Northern State Pkwy below...etc. Most of my guests are coming from other boros and Jersey and wouldn't even begin to know how to get to any of these highways. And believe it or not, not everyone has a computer to do mapquest...like my mom. She doesn't even know how to enter numbers in her cell phone. Lol
I had 50% oot people come to my wedding. But most stayed in the hotels right near FH. But I posted area info and directions on our wedding website and included the direction cards in the invites.

can anyone tell me if you need to guarantee a certain number of rooms to be booked in order to reserve a block at either fox hollow or the other hotels nearby? I dont have any OOT guests really but FH has a bunch of Frat buddies from college as well as some Florida relatives, so i would say maybe like, 8 rooms or so at most would prob be booked.

You need to book 10 rooms at the Inn at the Fox Hollow and 75% of those rooms need to be booked or your CC will be charged in full.

I know for FH you have to block 10 rooms to get the group discount and I believe you have to guarantee at least 75%(I think that's at least 7 rooms).

To clarify - your card will only be charged the remainder of the 75% not filled - so if you book a block of 10, and 5 are filled, you pay for 2, whether they get filled or not. This is why I did not book a block with them - I think it's ridiculous they just don't release those rooms like the other hotels do.
Executive Inn and the Woodbury Inn do not have any such requirements - you do need to block 10 at least I think but if 5 get filled, the other 5 get put back into the regular reservation availability ... I didn't check out the Fairfield Inn in Syosset, not sure what they do, or Four Points Sheraton in Plainview (which is just off the LIE, not far but the others are closer).

That's exactly what I'm going to do. I can't afford to have my cc charged if people back out at the last minute. I think I'm shelling out enough on this wedding. What you can consider is having everyone give you the money upfront THEN make the reservation using the group discount but explain to them that once they pay there is no refund b/c their rate is based on the group discount. This may definitely work for you since their coming from out of town so they will need a place to stay either way.

I booked fairfield and Plainview 4 Points, because I agre that is silly about getting charged for 7 rooms regardless. And the price of a night is out of control. Ha ha! I am paying to stay the night before my wedding, because it is just easier..Welcome New Vendors
