I am a pretty simple person (ok notsimple jokes ) I think since you have the bling on your dress I would do simple DOJ.

Any suggestions on where to get my hair done for my wedding day? I want an updo. I live in Oceanside so anywhere near the south shore would do. I was thinking of Maximus in Merrick.

Romantic updo. See attached.

I've never been to Maximus, but my sis looooves it there. I know they're pricey but I've only hear good things..

Well, I am getting some feedback and have some price quotes for trials and actual day of. So, I will give them a try and give you all some feedback which is what's great about this site. I am choosing hair stylists near where I live but most will travel.

Hi....just wanted to tell you that there is a thread on here ('Maximus is $$$$$' I think it is called) and the OP states that if you have them come to you, it costs $300...!! and you can get definitely your hair done for a lot less!! I wish I could recommend my hair person but I was not happy with her work on my day so I won't. I have heard that Jenn the Hair Genie is very good...also Khououd's Beauty I think offers free trials but is $$ the day of...works out because of the free trial though...

Vanessa...I heart bling so you probably know what I'm going to tell you!! If not sure try some on at Sandy's in Massapequa, they have a good selection and I think there is at least one place in Tri-County in Levittown! You can always do a bracelet with bling and a simpler neclace and earrings if you aren't sure too

This is my wedding color scheme. Spring into Summer colors! It's bold, energetic, vibrant and full of life which is how I am. I guess that's why everyone likes the colors they like! :) Just hope most of my conservative guests aren't struck like, OMGosh! What was she thinking?

it's amazing how much i thought i wanted for a wedding has changed over the years, now that it's not hypothetical anymore, i'm seeing things differently....

i am SOOOOO not doing the boK toss...i stopped getting up there years ago when there was like 4 of us pathetic singles left and i was like....is the dj gonna say 'now every one point at the single girls and laugh!' .....lol i don't think there would be more than one or two ppl to catch it, anyway! no garter either...eewwww! lol

we picked the WSCC because it wasnt all crystals and marble...we liked the quaint feeling of it, and a seemingly more intimate setting.

i AM hopping on the 'channa plaque' bandwagon, tho! lol i like the idea of the plaque hanging in our place after the wedding. it will be a surprise for FH :)

i am dancing with my dad...feel so blessed to still have my parents here. my mom got diagnosed with brain cancer last year, and i would have never asked her to walk me down the aisle with my dad as a younger bride, but i know now that it would make her so happy....and how lucky i am to have her....she's thrilled that i asked her :)

i still have to book the photog and flowers, and don't want to go crazy with the $$ on them....who are you ladies using?

sorry so long....just kinda letting you all know where i'm at...plus i'm bored, and FH is crashed out on the couch asleep so i'm amusing myself :)

For flowers, I totally recommend Burtons. I didn't want to spend a lot on them either and I so loved them. They definitely exceeded my expectations. I spent under $2,000 for cps for 14 tables, my bok, BMs bok, GM bouts, father bouts, and corsages for moms, stepmoms and readers.

Hi Tracey...I don't think anyone here did the bo-k toss or garter thing (please corrrect me if I'm wrong ladies!!) so you are in good company....I haven't been to too many weddings recently either where they do that anymore! For flowers we used Lovin Oven in Sayville...Keyth is amazing and did a beautiful job on our flowers. We still get compliments on them!

Hi Ladies - I'm sorry I haven't been on much lately. February is one of my busiest months at work so it's been exhausting! I promise to post more often in March!

The food was AMAZING! We were blown away when we went for our tasting. The day of the wedding, it was even better. People are still telling us it was the best food at a wedding. One thing people really loved was the mashed potato bar - it was the hit of the wedding!

My sister is driving me crazy because now she says she doesn't know whether she wants to get married. I give up...she is 40 and still doesn't know what she wants!!!

Hi, Kirsten!

I actually sent a FM to LIW admins to ask about how to go about getting our own forum....it was apparently ignored as i haven't heard back, oh well.

i made an appt with bayport flower house, which is the recommended vendor at wscc...joanne sounded nice on the phone, i'm gonna check them out, and burton's i think...i've heard they're the most reasonable (aka cheapest!!!!) lol

got my tiara today :) so a tiny check, should decide on a photog by tomorrow.

moving along, slowly but surely....but still stressing!!!! lol

how goes it with you ladies?

I had my first make up trial yesterday. My sister got the lady who was very nice. However, I didn't like the make up and I feel bad because my sister liked it. It was air brushing and my sister is more freckly than I am.

First of all, I do my make up pretty well on my own and perfer my products vs. airbrushing as I am a Mary Kay consultant. The airbrushing seemed too heavily made up on me. My pores appeared larger and the lines under my eyes more exaggerated. I turned 45 this week so I think I'm feeling old in general.

With that, I don't like that my eyelashes weren't as full like when I do them. I have a thick head of hair with great body so my eyelashes are that way too but are light. Maybe it was the waterproof mascara she used? I find waterproof formula does make them less full. Not sure how to hide the circles under my eyes besides needing more sleep but piling foundation on under them is NOT a good idea. I looked like I had more wrinkles then I have!

Not sure why this is making me feel stressed and kinda down. Think I am afraid to tell my sister I'm not into it.

Anyone have a make up artist they like and can recommend?
