OK. Here is my mom trying on her dress so happy because she found, 'the one'! The price was happy too at $225. It's too big on her but they will order and do the alterations.

FYI: Light material so as to not weigh her down all night and exhaust her. Only 4'11' so realized the pleats down the dress made her look taller. Jacket included to cover arms.

That a beautiful dress. My mom will tell me it too long because she walks with a cane. She thinks anything long she will fall because of the cane. I just love mothers.

Do you picture her in a knee length cocktail dress? Otherwise there's that tea length. Or, a slit so she doesn't feel locked in. My mother considered a dress like this with the drape.

Just one thing: don't wait too long to get any BM or MOB dresses. I went for those dresses in January for my late May wedding and almost had to pay a rush fee.

Thanks, I'm not looking until July for her because she is going a cruise in Aug and she will want to wear in then. Who knows she might smile in the pic.

Just wanted to thank you ladies who started this thread

i am 38, just got engaged xmas eve and getting married july 3rd. FH is 40, and it's his second marriage.

i was starting to feel depressed at all the things the younger brides were spending all this money on, that i didn't see as important. FH never wanted a wedding, he would've been happy with town hall, but he's willing to have one because ive never been married, and u know, the whole dreaming of a wedding my whole life thing...lol

we are both not willing to spend lots of money on things we feel are a waste....like expensive invites, dj intelligent lighting, huge CPs, etc....

my mom on the other hand, watches my fair wedding obsessively and whenever she hears some way i'm looking to cut corners and save $, she's say DAVID TUTTURA WOULD DIE IF U DID THAT!

lol sorry so long, i am just grateful to have this thread and not feel like i am having a trashy wedding!!!!

Oh I can soooo relate. I was starting to feel a tad bit disappointed when I saw all these girls having uplighting and all this expensive over the top stuff. I have had to cut corners too though.

Not sure what the mindset of one in their 20's is towards weddings cause I am pretty excited like a kid about this. Only now at this age, it's just my mom who is on a fixed income. My dad passed away when I was 32. I think with 2 incomes and FH and I pitching in, we could spend more but I am getting the main things I wanted. Just a bit stressed financially but still not sure I'd want to go way over the top as what I am seeing on this board with the younger gals!

So welcome Tracy! I too am glad this thread exists! :)

ITA!!! There is a different mindset for most of us in our 30s+ where we focus on other things than just trying to mimic weddings shown on TLC and the Wedding Channel shows!!

it's amazing how much i thought i wanted for a wedding has changed over the years, now that it's not hypothetical anymore, i'm seeing things differently....

i am SOOOOO not doing the boK toss...i stopped getting up there years ago when there was like 4 of us pathetic singles left and i was like....is the dj gonna say 'now every one point at the single girls and laugh!' .....lol i don't think there would be more than one or two ppl to catch it, anyway! no garter either...eewwww! lol

we picked the WSCC because it wasnt all crystals and marble...we liked the quaint feeling of it, and a seemingly more intimate setting.

i AM hopping on the 'channa plaque' bandwagon, tho! lol i like the idea of the plaque hanging in our place after the wedding. it will be a surprise for FH :)

i am dancing with my dad...feel so blessed to still have my parents here. my mom got diagnosed with brain cancer last year, and i would have never asked her to walk me down the aisle with my dad as a younger bride, but i know now that it would make her so happy....and how lucky i am to have her....she's thrilled that i asked her :)

i still have to book the photog and flowers, and don't want to go crazy with the $$ on them....who are you ladies using?

sorry so long....just kinda letting you all know where i'm at...plus i'm bored, and FH is crashed out on the couch asleep so i'm amusing myself :)

I understand about the garter but FH wants to do it so we compromised and we will do it in our room while everyone is in the CH...he just wants the pictures

I vote for the bling! I was on the fence about my bracelet too but found one that I absolutely loved. It looked great in the pictures.

For flowers, I totally recommend Burtons. I didn't want to spend a lot on them either and I so loved them. They definitely exceeded my expectations. I spent under $2,000 for cps for 14 tables, my bok, BMs bok, GM bouts, father bouts, and corsages for moms, stepmoms and readers.

thanks for the adivce, i was planning on checking burton's and also bayport flower house which the BM at the WSCC recommended....they say they do $50 cps there for $25 each...will be checking out both, and hopefully soon!!!!
