Re: Official Chateau La Mer '06 Thread!

We are going to Black Forest on Tuesday before we do our menu. We have an appointment with Tom. I definitely want Buttercream or whipped cream. We do not like the taste of Fondant. I've serched all over the internet so cake ideas so I'll bring those with me and hopefully with the books they have, I'll be able to find something great. We are thinking of Chocolate Cake with Black Cherries and Chocolate Mousse as our fillings. Yum!

Re: Official Chateau La Mer '06 Thread!

Hi,

I just discovered this forum and would need your help on dealing with CLM and better prep for the wedding day.

My date is 06/10/06 & ceremony on-site org. at 1:30PM but, forced to postpone to 2PM.
I wrote a formal letter to CLM about 3 wks ago (yet no reply). Originally, Nick told my FH over the phone that we can decorate at 11AM but, when I took my florist to scope out the site, Lou said 1PM b/c another wedding will use the same space for Cocktail Hr. until 1PM. My guests will arrive in that half-hour before the ceremony while my florist and her assistants decorate... this can’t work, right?

Then, found out, I can start using the new bridal suite at 1PM which, I’ll have photographer/videographer shoot while I'm getting ready... it's not enough time, right? Now, I'm forced to have my big day from 2PM to 7PM (Atrium). Is this enough time for pics and making a nice edited video?

Now, I feel that CLM is all about making $$$ and don't care about the significance of a wedding. They'll have four events on the same day that share a common space and not give reasonable time to each to setup. What can I say or do to have CLM to be more reasonable? Or, please advise on how I can better prep for the wedding day given the time constraints.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Official Chateau La Mer '06 Thread!

Just an FYI they do have their own candy cart for 250 (or maybe 300)....when all is said/done it wouldn't be that much cheaper to do on our own between candy & containers, etc. We're going with theirs. Here's a pic.

Why does the florist need to decorate in the ch room?

I would call and speak to nick directly. It seems VERY uncharacteristic of them. They have been nothing but helpful and informative with all questions and concerns. If you call and ask them Im sure they will figure something out for you.

I dont think it is common to actually get ready in the bridal room.. arent you going there already dressed?

CLM is only providing white chairs in addition to the gazebo. Decoration is definitely needed for the gazebo and esp. chairs by the aisle b/c they're bare looking.

Myself and the BMs will get hair&makeup done at a salon then, I will get dressed in the Bridal suite... I don't want to wear my gown and ride in the car... so, it'll get all wrinkled.

It's just weird b/c I wrote a letter to CLM and haven't heard from them.. I will have to call them when I'm not so disturbed.

Thanks for the suggestion/question.

Honestly, I didn't even think of that! I'm going to talk to my florist when we have our final meeting and see what she thinks.

Maybe we'll just do bows on the outer chairs, but only the first few rows?

Re: Official Chateau La Mer '06 Thread!

I just decorated the gazebo and put tons of petals on the ground and it was gorgeous. I think anything more would be too much.

This pic is at the very end when they were cleaning up.

Argyle Park is nearby near Bayshore on Montauk Hwy, but is not on a beach. There is a town beach not even a mile away Jen....its down Venetian Parkway (off Montauk Hwy), its a small beach w/ public parking (not sure if you need a permit), they just opened a small water park there for kids.

I think its called Venetian Shores Park.

Argyle is actually Babylon Village

BTW Ladies, Most of my pics were taken on the pier in the parking lot next to CLM

I was so stressing where to take pics and it was right there and I just walked to CLM afterwards.

Re: Official Chateau La Mer '06 Thread!

We're going to do our final menu on the 22nd!

Do we get to pick a cake then too? If so, do we get to taste the cake? Do they send us to the bakery to do that? TIA!!!!!!!!!

Re: Official Chateau La Mer '06 Thread!

you must go to the bakery if you dont like the cake in CLMs books, and if you want a taste, however I know Black Forrest hasnt been very earger to give anyone a tasting. Their cake came out awesome but when dealing with them (Tom I think) he was quite rude.
