Re: Thatched cottage thread
To all my fellow Thatched Cottage Brides,I don’t post on here much but I wanted to share my wonderful experience and the most perfect day at the Thatch. I got married last Friday and it was amazing. Everything was better than I could have ever imagined. They did a wonderful job from start to finish. My favorite part of the night was the CH. The food was never ending and it was everywhere. They put stations throughout the whole room and even outside. It was all delicious and all served hot. I have been getting so many complements about all the food. I also had my ceremony there outside. It was beautiful and I was lucky enough to get perfect weather.
I had Terrence (T-Dog) as my maitre d’. He was amazing. He made sure that everything was going perfect and he was always five steps ahead of me. I never had to ask him for anything bc before I could ask it was already done. He was amazing with detail. He did all my setting up of the reception room (candles, rose petals, tables, etc…) and it looked beautiful, better than I could of imagined.
Andre’ was there the night of the wedding. I had met him for the first time a couple of days before the wedding for my final meeting. I had met with other banquet managers before that but he is the best. He was great to work with and and he made my experience that much better.
I didn’t get my pictures back yet but I will definitely post them as soon as I do. I remember after booking the Thatched all I wanted was to see pictures, I couldn’t get enough. I took pictures at the Vanderbilt before the ceremony and I recommend the Vanderbilt to anyone looking for a spot to take pictures. Everyone is so nice there and easy to work with.
If anyone has any questions they want to ask or wants comments on anything please don’t hesitate to ask. We all picked an amazing place to have our weddings and I wish you all the best of luck!!

Re: Thatched cottage thread
To be honest there is not one thing I would have changed! It's funny you ask bc I have thought about this.I thought In The Mood DJ was fantastic. They had everyone up and dancing from the very start to the end. I even had family who were dancing that never dance. They had fun stuff they gave out all night that people really had fun with. Then at the end of the night they gave me a CD with all my important wedding songs on it. I had them also for my ceremony and they were there early and with plenty of time to set up.
They were great working with and the lady there that I had my final meeting with (don't know her name) was so helpful. She sat with us and went over song ideas and played songs for us that we were unsure of.

Re: Thatched cottage thread
'I've been to events at thatched cottage and the watermill. The main thing I remember about thatched cottage was the the ceiling was slanty which imo isn't what I would pick. Although my meal (the salmon) was freaking AWESOME and probably one of the best meals I've EVER ate at a catering hall. It rained on my friends wedding day so we were stuck inside. The outside looked beautiful though.''
This was posted on the BHB site. Just wondering... WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?!!! SLANTED CEILING!?!?!?!

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Hi ladies-I posted a while back that I was thinking of changing my wedding date b/c my Dad got sick.
We have decided against it b/c since then my Dad has come home! After 2 months in hospital and the rehab center he is home & doing great! He still has a long way to go but he is recovering really well!
I actually got a letter from TC to come in next month for my half deposit and to pick out the cakes, linens, etc.
Any suggestions on the cake flavor? We were thinking vanilla w/Cannoli filling.

Re: Thatched cottage thread
So happy to hear about yuor dad! That's really great news.We are doing yellow cake with chocolate mousse and canoli filling (they can use 2 fillings). My advice for the meeting - write everything down! FH and I didn't write anything down because we thought we'll remember everything, well we left the meeting and were like 'duh - what entrees did we pick?'

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Picking the lines is driving me crazy, But I think it will be better when I see their colors. I wish I could see the whole room set with the colors I want-lolI am picking the chicken with the Chamapgne sauce we eat it at our food tasting and loved it

Re: Thatched cottage thread
we picked the chicken florentine and the blue ribbon shell of beef with bordelaise sauce.I can't even remember the food we picked for CH because it's so much.
The linens were the easy part - they have all the colors there to see. I wish I were better prepared for cake design - bring pictures of cakes you like.
