SO I had my 3 month (really 2 month lol) meeting last night! Everything seems SO real!!! We have our menu, picked the prime rib and the chicken florentine. CH we switched out the 4 chafing dishes for the mashed potato bar and the mexican bar (not sure how I feel bout this one...but def wanted the mashed potato and couldnt afford another p/p charge) Picked our cake, it will be a square 4 tier cake with each layer having two layers of vanilla and 1 layer devils food, with chocolate mouse and cannoli filling, also did banana fosters/sundae bar.
Cant think of what else.... SO exciting yet really makes things real now lol. Now we dont see them till we do our final count! eekkk!
I actually want to do the mashed pot. bar and mexican station to thats so exciting its getting closer!!!!

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Erin you looked beautiful!!! I am so glad you had a great day. I am so pissed about the Chalet and the Wingate!! We actually did a little research and did not even go to either of the places. We blocked rooms, booked the rehersal dinner and an after wedding breakfast at the Sheraton in Hauppauge. The shuttles alone are going to run us $1,500!!! Maybe it is not too late to change it. Anyway, quick question to Erin and all brides that have gotten married at the TC....how did pictures work out after the ceremony??? We are going to extend the cocktail hour another 1/2 hour but how did that work out???

We did the mashed potato bar and mexican station too. I wanted to do the banana fosters/sundae bar, but FH wanted the pastries.
The other thing we switched was instead of frozen drinks when our guests walk in (pina coladas, daiquiris, etc.,) we are doing warm spiced cider. It's a little more 'fall-ish' and even though I don't drink it, I love the way it smells. Of course, the guests can get daiquiris if they want 'em.
For our cake we picked yellow spong with a layer of chocolate mousse and a layer of cannoli.
It's so exciting!

thanks for all of your nice comments!try this link for info about booking the Vanderbuilt for pics:

We did most of our pictures there before the ceremony so we really didnt do pictures after the ceremony. The hour and a half cocktail worked out great---that way people had enough time to eat all of the food and have some drink so they were ready to dance!

Re: Thatched cottage thread
not at all----that's what we did and there was soooo much food. People keep telling us that we went overboard with food and we are like---'that's what was included' No one can believe it. I did not get the chair covers and I'm glad I didnt spend all that extra money on them---it looked great without

I don't like Indian Food, can we substitute it for something else? Did or is anyone thinking about doing the candy bar, ('Thank You Bar') Thatched cottage offers for a favor?

Re: Thatched cottage thread
It's not my favorite either but they didnt tell us before hand that they were going to give it to us, so there wasn't any way to ask for a different station. Actually though, quite a few people told me how good the indian station was!

I was told they dont 'throw the indian station in' and they only did it for 2-3 weddings months ago lol... Funny. I didnt want it to begin with I think maybe when I brought it up he thought I was asking for it and he went into his we dont do that thing and Im like good cause we dont want it lol. I dont think you can switch it out for something else though... everyone I have seen has had it thrown in like day of w/o knowing. I wanted to do the thank you bar but its just not in the budget... looks SO yummy though!

I think its still going to be a TON of food... cause then you still have 5 stations AND carving station, AND passed horsderves (sp lol) plus the cheese n stuff... I think it will be fine!

yummmmyy I didnt know we could do that!
I wonder if I can change it still that would be awesome! Was there any kind of extra fee?

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Do what - the cider? There was no extra fee - Tonianne just suggested we do that instead of frozen drinks because it's more 'fall-ish'FH is not big on paying extra for anything
Seriously, we're in contract to buy a house so as much as we'd love to do some extras, we just can't afford it on top of the house. We wanted to do the 'thank you' bar too, but we realized that it's a new piece of furniture for the house or a paint job.

Re: Thatched cottage thread
It says on the contract- its a different price before hand then if you decide to do it that night because your having too much fun! So if you decide to, do it ahead of time, I'll look to see if I can find my contract

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Hi Ladies, I posted this on a separate thread because I couldn't find this one. I think it's important that you know this if you have a late pm wedding. If there's a wedding before you. MAKE SURE there is enough time between!!I got married at Thatched last month and had the TIME of my life! BUT..... I would like to share my experience so that none of you other early evening brides run into the same problem.
We were told the bridal party could arrive after 6:00pm for the 7:00 ceremony. As it turned out, we ran a little late taking pictures at Vanderbuilt and got there at about 6:20. We arrived JUST as the previous wedding was leaving!! Someone messed up big time there and they were NOT ready for my wedding! The girl who was there (not ToniAnn) who I had dealt with told me I had to wait OUTSIDE because the other bride had the suite until 6:30!! It was a total disaster both inside and out! Imagine our guests waiting along that road while the valets were busy getting the other people out??
OK so they did get it cleaned up and fast, but the damage was done, certainly in my parents eyes. (I wasn't happy either, but I was in that bridal 'daze' where nothing could bother me too much that day!)
My parents wrote a letter to them over two weeks ago and they never responded! That's another thing that doesn't make Mom or Dad happy!
Anyway, I agree with my parents that this should not happen and I wanted to give you all a heads up JUST in case you have a wedding before yours!
If that didn't happen, Thatched would have gotten a total A plus because everything else was wonderful!
