Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

180 is the max, my bm said keep it at 170 to be comfortable though.

I believe once u go over 150 is when they switch to oblong tables instead of round

Quick question/concern

Some of you girls said that you've mailed checks and that you get reminders of how much you owe? I've never gotten any reminders but just send checks before they're due since I'm in CT and can't go there.

So I see your from CT! Me too! I finally found another bride planning a LI wedding from CT.

What part are u from?

Aw yay! I'm from Trumbull- where are you from??

I'm in Branford right now, we are looking for a house to buy.

I was at the mall yesterday in Trumbull!

I work in New Haven.

I was wondering the same thing. I think I'm deciding against it unless janedoe2 (my date and hall twin) wants to do them together. have a big one in each bathroom, for all guests, ya know?

I didn't go in the bathrooms on my wedding day. But the hall told me they provided them. But I didn't get to check them out.

Then I should def. call someone- who knows who though LOL. I'm starting to get annoyed- wedding annoyance has officially kicked in.

this happened to us. We were told we got a room, but the Inn wasn't notified, then the hall said we didn't have one. So DH went there and spoke to the general Manager and they ended up giving us a room. It was very confusing and time consuming. I'd def call someone asap and get it squared away and IN WRITING!!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

I had said my cake was really gross, but I was actually just talking to people about that the other day and they said it was fine, it was like any other cake. Maybe my mouth was dry, haha, I don't know. So nobody else though it was bad. I don't want anyone to freak out about the cake.

My BM is Dave. I've read some iffy stuff about him but he always answers my questions and calls me right back.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

I had a long note typed up about my meeting last night with the Fox Hollow re: menu, linens, cake, and my stupid laptop, I must have hit the wrong button and my browser was sent back like 10 pages. If anyone knows what I am doing when this happens, plllllllease tell me. It's the most annoying thing everrrr.

Anyhow, we had our meeting yesterday with Ann Marie! FH wasn't feeling too well so we had to leave without setting up a centerpiece like I had planned, but I will go back next week on my lunch break to do it.

We picked carrot cake. Does anyone think this is odd? My sister thinks no one will like it. We think it's different and kinda fall like :) Honest opinions, please! I am going to ask if they can make the top two layers carrot and the bottom 2 something else - anyone know if this is possible?

Also - we picked the combination app - salad instead of the two separate dishes. We picked shrimp imperial. My mom dislikes this for two reasons. 1, she thinks that it looks more impressive when there's two dishes because not a lot of RH's offer it. I can't remember either way and don't think that matters too much. We did this because we want more time to parrrty. :) 2, she thinks that people who are allergic / don't like fish, shellfish may not know to tell the server that they need an alternate dish. I don't want to base my decisions around a few people, but I want people to be happy, you know? What do you guys think?

And the paperwork they gave me at the end, holy cow. She started telling me about all the things I will have to bring that last week before my wedding, and I got a headache almost instantly. I wish I had just gotten flower centerpieces!!! I am going to have so many things to bring. I hope I do not forget anything!!!!!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

1) Love carrott cake, I think its cute for the fall.

2) We will probably go with the combo app as well b/c I like how they give u an intermezzo between. I think thats very classy and no one offers that.

1. I am not a fan of carrot cake....but if that's what you want. go for it. it's your wedding.

2. We did the combination. More time to party...good idea!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

We picked the shrimp imperiale too and while my mom doesnt like it either (b/c she hates fish) but i think it saves time and 90% of people like fish in our family.

We were told we couldnt have separate cakes (sponge and fillings) for each layer so i dont think they'll do it.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Carrot cake is nice..different.. if people don't like it there will be the dessert too.

We are definitely doing the duet salad/app - when I heard that I thought it was GREAT- more time for dancing!!
Since there will be a menu at each place setting, im sure anyone allergic to fish will see this and ask if there is another option..

Only a little over 2 months to go.... you must be so excited!!!!!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

we had different flavors in our cakes - but that was a long time ago in 'wedding days'...so i don't know what to tell you...

i think carrot fits PERFECTLY with your fall theme and you should do what YOU want...

jenn - i had literally 15 things to bring to them. start getting yourself organized now - designate a part of a room for that stuff and just keep the 'bigger' bags that you get from places. You had your shower - so i'm sure you kept the nice big, macy's bags or something...or boxes.... pack the stuff up and label it and let it go! :)

i'm so psyched for you!!!!

I LOVE CARROT CAKE!!! We are doing the same thing! We love it and I don't care what anybody else likes! If they don't like it they can have the pastries and the other dessert which is offered. We had Carrot Cake for our Engagement party and the entire thing went!

I got it in writing but who knows what sh*t they can pull- you know how people can be esp. when it comes to the wedding industry... i called dave again- no answer- had FH call and leave him a message. I'm making a trip to LI this weekend to meet with vendors and if I don't have an answer by then- i'm walking in there and settling it because that's annoying. I have this little feeling in the back of my mind that they're gonna say something like 'oh well we're all booked now for that night so i'm sorry but we'll give you this and that instead!' but um no i don't want anything else- that was a big deal for me and the reason i have this feeling is because when i checked online for rooms for that night it said no availability- all booked. so yeah- they better not mess with me. lol.

who should we call to confirm the room? I'm getting nervous now. There is a 1-800 # on the hotel website and then there are about 10 other number. Maybe I should just call the 800 number and they can direct me??
