Does anyone know the Guest MAXIMUM for The Briar Fox room --- our guarantee was only 120 -
I remember Jen telling me the # depended on whether we used round or oblong tables - I will go with whichever one allows more people ..but I'm just curious if anyone knows what the absolute MAX is for that room?? I am so nervous that we are inviting too many people and may go over the MAX!

I was told the same as stinenandy2010 180 absolute max, try for only 170

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Posted by JBoothIn2008

I had a long note typed up about my meeting last night with the Fox Hollow re: menu, linens, cake, and my stupid laptop, I must have hit the wrong button and my browser was sent back like 10 pages. If anyone knows what I am doing when this happens, plllllllease tell me. It's the most annoying thing everrrr.

Anyhow, we had our meeting yesterday with Ann Marie! FH wasn't feeling too well so we had to leave without setting up a centerpiece like I had planned, but I will go back next week on my lunch break to do it.

We picked carrot cake. Does anyone think this is odd? My sister thinks no one will like it. We think it's different and kinda fall like :) Honest opinions, please! I am going to ask if they can make the top two layers carrot and the bottom 2 something else - anyone know if this is possible?

Also - we picked the combination app - salad instead of the two separate dishes. We picked shrimp imperial. My mom dislikes this for two reasons. 1, she thinks that it looks more impressive when there's two dishes because not a lot of RH's offer it. I can't remember either way and don't think that matters too much. We did this because we want more time to parrrty. :) 2, she thinks that people who are allergic / don't like fish, shellfish may not know to tell the server that they need an alternate dish. I don't want to base my decisions around a few people, but I want people to be happy, you know? What do you guys think?

And the paperwork they gave me at the end, holy cow. She started telling me about all the things I will have to bring that last week before my wedding, and I got a headache almost instantly. I wish I had just gotten flower centerpieces!!! I am going to have so many things to bring. I hope I do not forget anything!!!!!!

I think carrot cake is fine. Most cake places can do two types of cake and they will split the layers to accomodate 50% of guest for one flavor and the other 50% the other. This usually means the bottom one flavor and top two the 2nd since they are smaller.

As for the allergy/don't like part, I was at a wedding, and I cannot eat fish, I just skipped any 'fish food' and ate everything else. There is usually tons of other food. Some guest may know they can request other items, but if you aren't sure that they will and this is a major factor, maybe you can have that written on the menu if you are making your own, or have the word passed around via your bridesmaids/groomsmen. Just as a side note: even though I do not eat fish, that will be my appetizer anyway, It just sounds so good!

Good luck with your down to the wire planning

Then I should def. call someone- who knows who though LOL. I'm starting to get annoyed- wedding annoyance has officially kicked in.

this happened to us. We were told we got a room, but the Inn wasn't notified, then the hall said we didn't have one. So DH went there and spoke to the general Manager and they ended up giving us a room. It was very confusing and time consuming. I'd def call someone asap and get it squared away and IN WRITING!!!

who should we call to confirm the room? I'm getting nervous now. There is a 1-800 # on the hotel website and then there are about 10 other number. Maybe I should just call the 800 number and they can direct me??

I spoke with Victor Scotto when blocking rooms for my wedding & discussing my complimentary room. Do you think i should call & ask since im now 6 months away???

People think I'm crazy when I tell them this, but, there is this place called 'The Sweet Nut Hut and Invitation Station' in Deer Park. It's a candy store and Invitation shop. I kid you not. LOL She has tons of invitation books. I had been looking for invites online and in other stores and I hadn't found anything that I loved until I went to her AND she gave me a nice discount. Something like 15 to 20% off my total order.

i spoke with Victor at the Chateau Briand expo- he told me that most likely if the comp room is in our contract, then we should already be in the computer - I am definitely calling tomorrow because now im nervous- We aren't blocking rooms at the Inn - its a little pricey as most of our
guests are not OOT'ers but would just want to crash after the wedding so they don't have to drive home -
I would definitely call to confirm!! unfortunately you can't leave anything to chance.

BTW - I just called Jessica today to block rooms at the best western - rooms are half the price of the Inn - they have a free shuttle to and from the hotel and FH and they are opening a restaurant there in the fall .. just another less expensive option for your guests. Jessica was great..a pleasure to deal wtih!!

Don't worry we DO have time! I already sent out my invites but it's ok that you didn't yet. Two months is a long time so don't worry about it!!! I went to my meeting at Fox Hollow the other night with Ann Marie and it was fun. Don't worry everything will get done!

We had 230 and we just fit. We could have put more people at tables, but we had the max # of tables. If you feel better..we invited almost 300. You WILL get no's.
