Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

I was at the Pre-Cana registration on Friday. We start our official class until tomorrow night. Though it doesn't seem like it will be too bad. The workbook is kind of interesting.

I also narrowed down invite choices this past weekend. Hopefully make final selections this weekend.

Congrats SIBride06 for getting the official planning done. How does it feel? I can't wait to be at that point....a few more things to go though (limos, flowers, invites, & tuxes).

We got our rings this weekend, so all the actual 'planning' is finished!!!

I have pre-cana on Sat.

Congrats too you!!! I only have minor things to work on also!! Cant wait to see pics of your ring!!

Next week I have to go shopping with my sister for her dress. She is the one walking me down the aisle, so its sort of like if I was helping my mom with her dress!!

I would agree...it seems that you have a lot of the major vendors down. Did you get a photographer yet?

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

I just got my photographer this weekend. I think that my fiancee will pick out his tux the week before the wedding. He hasn't even asked his friends to be groomsmen yet and my bridesmaids are already trying on dresses. We are both such procrastinators

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing... August is coming up real soon.. can you believe.. We are already passed the halfway point in March, Carazy, isn't it?

What are you ladies doing for your living arrangements? If you dont live with your FH's already, when are you moving out?

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

cake is next up for us. Our planner is making a few calls.

Oh and our caterer is in Thailand right now and she is going to get us Thai chopsticks, how nice is that? One less thing for us to do. And it saves us $50 for shipping them overseas.

we already live together...best idea ever. It's a sleep over party every night.

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

I don't really know what to do next....

I think I am going to start putting together direction cards for the invites, programs and set up a template for the menus. Am I missing any other paperwork?

I also need rings, FH needs his tux, and I need BM gifts! When did you start looking for tuxes??

FH and I have been living together for 3 years. I don't think I could handle moving and getting married at the same time!!

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

Well, I have been looking for this thread! Can't remember if I posted to it before.
I finally feel like a bride, lol. I bought my dress this weekend and picked up my invitations. We are meeting with the caterer on Saturday at the site. He's never been there so he needs to see the setup. I've also been working on getting the addresses for my guest list and making sure I didn't forget anyone!
Is anyone having an A-list, B-list for their guest list? I am toying with the idea b/c there are a few friends I recently reconnected with and would like to keep the option open to invite them if someone else declines. Any thoughts?
The only dim spot in the sunshine is my sister. She lives in Colorado and I talked to her yesterday about coming out for the wedding. She's supposed to be in the BP. Well, last time we talked she had said she didn't think they could afford it. I told her not to worry, we would figure something out. Now she says she doesn't know if they are coming b/c her husband doesn't really want to and she's not speaking to our mother, so basically what's the point? I am so mad I don't even know what to say to her!
But I am not going to let it ruin the rest of the planning. I am having too much fun right now!

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

We have an A& B list...I feel the same way about guests, so I want to keep my options open if people can not make it. We also have a guarantee, so just in case!

I am so sorry to hear about your situation wiht your sister. It may be really hard, but dont let it ruin your planning/wedding day! You never know, maybe it will work out, but if you get yourself upset about this, you will not enjoy any of it! Keep us posted...sorry again you ahve to go through this!

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

Just a quick check in with my fellow August brides.

My FH and I got our rings this weekend and I ordered my headpiece. (It will take 10 weeks to get in). The rings have been the most exciting part of planning for me. Call me wierd.

Still have to order invites and find a florist, but in the midst of looking for them.

How is everyone else doing?

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

Hey date twin...Dont stress!! You want to enjoy this time, not hate it!

It seems like you have all the major vendors and stuff planned...I am working on invites right now, but then its onto the little stuff! Just when I think I am done, I think of shoes, placecards, favors, guestbook, ring pillow...etc Even though we are only 5 months out, we still have plenty of time to work out the details!

Good Luck!

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

I told my FH we have to get one wedding related thing done each week. This week is deciding on the officiant.
So many things came to light this weekend. I need some opinions.
For 100 people at a reception we are having a pig roast, probably 300 pounds of meat after it is cooked. We are also getting trays of food from the restaurant we met at. The owner is a friend of ours and I also used to work for him. We are getting 8 trays of food from him. He suggested we supplement that even more by ordering heroes and salads, chips and nuts, fruit , veggie and cheese platters from a local deli. All that plus dessert. My question is, is all that food really necessary? We are on a VERY tight budget and I'm afraid we'll go into debt, but I don't want people to starve, either! What do you all think? Could I maybe skip the heroes and just get the finger foods? HELP!!
