I told my FH we have to get one wedding related thing done each week. This week is deciding on the officiant.
So many things came to light this weekend. I need some opinions.
For 100 people at a reception we are having a pig roast, probably 300 pounds of meat after it is cooked. We are also getting trays of food from the restaurant we met at. The owner is a friend of ours and I also used to work for him. We are getting 8 trays of food from him. He suggested we supplement that even more by ordering heroes and salads, chips and nuts, fruit , veggie and cheese platters from a local deli. All that plus dessert. My question is, is all that food really necessary? We are on a VERY tight budget and I'm afraid we'll go into debt, but I don't want people to starve, either! What do you all think? Could I maybe skip the heroes and just get the finger foods? HELP!!

I am a really bad judge when it comes to food, so I am sorry to say that I can't help you out there. But I did want to say that I have a house out there and spent my summers growing up in Orient. Beautiful location!!

what type of trays are you getting? If they are all meals/pastas/etc.

You might consider getting the veggies and cheese platters and salads to 'fill in'. I don't know that I would do the hero also. JMO!

Hey date twin...Dont stress!! You want to enjoy this time, not hate it!

It seems like you have all the major vendors and stuff planned...I am working on invites right now, but then its onto the little stuff! Just when I think I am done, I think of shoes, placecards, favors, guestbook, ring pillow...etc Even though we are only 5 months out, we still have plenty of time to work out the details!

Good Luck!

thanks for the support date twin. Everytime i see your name i think of my sister. Her name is Melissa and our last name is White

Hi Ladies:

RIght now I am STRESSED about flowers. Orchids ... roses... urrghhh. All of the flowers I LOVE like peonies and ranunculus are out fo season in August. Right now I am willing to walk down the aisle carrying weeds. My dress is a dark ivory and the girls dresess are peach and you would think I could find something I love, but oh no, not me! I am beginning to feel like a flower moron and my florist has been sooooo accomodating. How can this be the hardest part??? Someone save me from myself please!!!!

Re: Official August 2006 Thread. Come on in.

That is so exciting! I am working through the guest list right now...got into a fight with my mom about it this morning. Grrr! Looks like we have 176 invited guests. Hopefully the 20% ratio is accurate and I end up with approx. 140 or less (I wanted to keep it small).

I feel your pain here. This is the one vendor I have been dreading because I am not a flower person and didn't really have any favorites. I will be going to visit a florist on Sunday and hopefully one tomorrow or Saturday if i can get an appointment.

How is your flower stuff going? Anyone else have trouble with flowers?

It is like we are on the same wave length. I went to one florist already and I am just sitting there thinking...I don't know. Luckily...the people we spoke with had some ideas...just not sure about them yet. Going to see what others have to offer.

Have you gone to visit florists yet?

that sounds like a lot of yummy food! i bet if you add in salad as filler, you will not need all of the finger foods, too.

That's what I was thinking as well, but then I second guess myself saying 'He's a caterer, he knows better than I do...'
