Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

I need help!

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out because it's starting to bug me.

I'm planning on doing a lot of DIY stuff. For example, even though I'm getting centerpieces from a vendor, I plan to decorate the sweetheart table with other things for budget reasons and I'm getting my own LED cubes to light up each centerpiece. Also, for the card table, I have these branches that I'm spray painting and putting crystals on to use as a centerpiece for that table. I'm also thinking DIY candles everywhere- as you can see i'm on a super tight budget.

Anyway, I have been searching this board forever and a lot of people have mixed things to say when it comes to Fox Hollow setting up your DIY stuff. Some people say they will, others say they had issues and some people even said one person says yes while another says no. What's the deal? Will they set this all up for me? I know it's asking for a lot and if they don't then who do people normally get to set this stuff up?

Sorry for the long post. it's just that I'm begining to look for all this DIY stuff and I wanna start buying stuff whenever I see something to start a project but hold myself back because I am just nervous that I'll have all this stuff and not be able to set it up or that it won't be set up even if I ask.

Thanks to anyone who will actually go through my ridiculously rambled on post.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hi Genine and welcome. I know they use Erga Bakery in Bethpage. They do have a website which you can view their cakes and I have called them and asked them if I can come down for a tasting and they had no problem with that. I have seen their cakes before and have tasted them at the showcases and have not been very impressed. I am hoping they get a new bakery soon, but I'm not sure if that is going to happen.

I didn't have too many things for them to set up, but what I had they did perfectly and I had no problem with any of it. They write down specific instructions, though I labeled and wrote instructions on all the boxes I dropped off anyway.

Windy -

I originially wanted Nov 09 but a Saturday night only. The price was $95pp plus tax and gratiutiy.

Then our BM said if we want to January we could save a ton of $$$, which we definitely did!

Thanks, Christine... if it doesn't work out we'll stick with April 2010... January is out (apparently) because it's college bowl season... who knew!

Hello Ladies,
I am new hear, also getting married at the Fox Hollow in the Garden Terrace Room, July 12, 2009. I am glad I read your posts because it has me giving serious thought to our cake and questions I need to ask. We were told that we can choose a cake from the book but they didnt show it to us and said we'd see it when we get closer. I really want to see it now to see if I need to make other arrangements. Can you tell me, do you get a cake tasting at the Fox Hollow????

We have been working with Dave and my fiance felt put a bit off by the fact they wouldn't give us a food tasting and said 'We are the Scotto Brothers, the name speaks for itself' THey did however bring us to the restaraunt and feed us complimentary appetizers, which we liked. We also ate at the Watermill recently and loved the food so that makes us feel good.

I asked Dave several times about cost of kids/vendors and was told that after our gurantee we pay 1/3 of the price, no mention of 1/3 off the price so now I need to call and ask and then make a stink. I went in there with a long questionnaire and wrote EVERYTHING down and then asked again when we went back to confirm so I will have to really look into this.

Thanks for opening my eyes! BEst of luck to all of you!!
Genine

David showed me the cake book. Theyhave a few good selections in it! ut i would definitely want to see it right away to make a decision.

hi there!!
i am a married fox hollow bride ...

i just wanted to mention about the cake that they dont have tastings, but their cakes tasted awesome... but they messed up my cake BIG TIME!! it looked terrible and was not even what i asked for.. i know a couple of us had this problem.. so i think they are starting to be more careful with it.. so my advice to you is if you go with their cake, just make sure you are VERY clear what you want!! and tell them to write down EVERYTHING!!

but like i said.. after seeing a bunch of girls getting married after me, the cake situation has been fine.. but its just a little heads up!!!

good luck!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

with regards to the cakes...

as most of you know - i had a grooms' cake from Audrey's bakery and the Fox Hollow cake.

If they weren't different colors - i wouldn't have noticed a difference in flavor. They both tasted WONDERFUL & we were happy that we didn't waste the money and get another cake, because, by that point - most people took 2 bites of the cake and that was it. (keep in mind, you get the extra desert, we had the waffle thingy)...

Hey girls

Can anyone tell me if you know whether or not small dogs are allowed in the Inn at Fox Hollow?? I wanna bring my baby with me :(

Also, does anyone know how far in advance I should block hotel rooms??

TIA

Im pretty sure pets are not allowed. But the executive inn allows them for like an extra $25.

To add to this- You can call Erga bakery and make an appointment to go in and see their work and Im sure thy will be bale to tell you what they will and wont include for a Fox Hollow cake. And you can probably also request a tasteing.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

random question....

Would any of you girls like to GTG at any time in September to celebrate the 1 year of this thread?

I know it seems silly - but i've grown to LOVE you girls and get so excited to see you post your pics & questions...

So many threads come and go and die and come back, but this one, we have worked so hard to keep going... i think it's something to celebrate!

Maybe we can get together for drinks at the Fox Hollow restaurant or something????

I'd do it if you got enough people to go. I'm free Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights (I work nights the other days). I live so close it'd be a shame not to stop by.
