i know i have asked this before, but for girls who had their reception in the briar fox, how many guests did you have? i know it fits 180 but i want people comfortable. my fam and friends all dance so i also dont want the dance floor so packed where noone can move lol.

I know that is the MAx..but i think that's too much for that room to be comfortable.
I would try to keep it at 160 or under to be comfortable.

yea i wasnt even gonna invite 180 actually but i wasnt sure what was the most comfortable. bc i was undecided if i should invite all my 2nd cousins and some coworkers. well i guess i still have time lol

oh ok, thankss

my bm told me to keep it at 170 to be comfortable.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

My friend and BM is getting married at the Fox Hollow in February, and has her final meeting next week. What sort of questions should they bring, what will they be getting, and what advice should I give her before she walks in there?

Thanks :)

Very simple low centerpieces. Lots of rust, orange, cala lillies, roses, some other flowers (I am clueless about flowers! LOL) oh berries too.

Wow, had to go to posts within the last week to find this lol.

Went to the Fox today, was trying (unsuccessfully) to get a later time for our wedding, but while I was there I took pictures of the hall all decorated with the holiday decor. Pics are in an album if you want to look at them :)

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hello Ladies & happy holidays,

As we look at our budget, after many bumps along the way ($4000 to the vet and other mishaps) we are worried about affording wedding rings. THere is NO money left to put towards them and if we end up somehow with extra money there are other places this money needs to go. Anyway, I originally was going to go to a friend's father who is a jewler, but now I am thinking of going to Kay's or Zales since I received store cards and can charge the rings. Is anyone else get rings from these stores? Also, on their sites I see a lot of white gold but no platinum, I am hoping in store there will be a wider selection. Is anyone getting white gold??

TIA!
Genine

I looked at Zales for wedding rings (haven't purchased yet) and my e-ring is from there. Customer Service was wonderful and we've had no problems! They have lots of stuff on clearance that is nice too. Take out the protection plan, we've used it for a missing stone, sizing, and numerous 'walk in' cleanings. Also, when my ring went out for fixing, it came in earlier than they said it would both times. They even have a theft protection so I didn't need to add it to my insurance. (my ring isn't expensive so I may not have to anyways)

I do recommend also going to the Zales outlet in Tanger Outlet mall, it's worth the trip and they have stuff the Zales in the mall doesn't have at much lower prices.

Note: the 'fixing' of my ring was not b/c of bad craftsman ship it was totally my fault.

Abt the Chapels,

I was shown one, my reception in in the Briar fox room and my ceremony will be in the garden unless it rains then it will be in the chapel i was shown. We are having between 160 -180 people and he said that the garden and/or chapel will be big enough to accommodate my guests.

Right now we have 167 on the 'A list' and our parents keep asking to add people we don't even know (not included in the above count), so we are trying to talk them out of that, but overall refuse to invite no more than 180 if we loose that argument and then we'll be praying that people won't show. We have a lot of out of townees who are traveling from as far away as Arizona so a few people said our initial goal of 165ish may be achieved even if we invite the 'add on guests' but again, I too feel that majority of those on our A-list are really close friends and immediate family so we are assuming almost all 167 I believe will show.

Is it stupid to pay for an outside baker to bake it when in all actuality it doesnt matter that much? Or does it matter and thats why Im posting this question.... FH and I both come from the Hospitality/Culinary field so am I making a bigger deal out of this that necessary?

It's not silly to be debating this, we are still considering it. We both love Culinary/ Hospitaltiy as well (not in the field, but just that is the type of people we are). From day one we said we wanted an 'original' cake, even before we had a date set, and defiantly in no way shape or form did we want a 'fake' cake with a sheet cake in the back. My friend had that and didn't even know that was what she was getting.

1st I want to ask, you are from the field? do you know any cake makers personally you may be able to get a deal from? or buy the mats for them and just give them a tip or so? My sis and a friend can make cakes and we asked if we could have them make it and the Fox Hollow said they would need to provide some sort of health papers which I think my sis has but we don't want to chance it. Just ask the fox hollow exactly what paperwork you would need.

Personally, I told Dave right at our meeting (before we signed the contract) we probably weren't going with their cake and was shocked when he said that we wouldn't get anything really in replace (abt$200 )

I have never seen done before what I want to do with the cake (I'll share my idea eventually, but it's too soon now) so first we're gonna go to a few bakeries with our idea and get quotes. If our idea is feasible and not way over the top expensive we'll probably go with it. We're all ready cutting back on things in preparation, like DJ instead of Band, and we are doing a lot of DIY's. Also have so far asked his mother to hand paint the favors (saving much $$) and we'll probably ask a friend do the flowers. I don't want to cut back on photography b/c that is my 2nd love and if I could I would do my own pictures (photographers are gonna hate me b/c I know a lot abt the subject, love creativity, and know what I want)

Worse outcome we still can't afford it and try to dress up their cake as much as possible. Maybe we'll get a small version of the cake I want for the rehearsal diner?? And for day of wedding 'upgrade' the cake which will be more money but probably not as much as the price of an entire cake.

Both in the field but of course we dont know any pastry artists. Jay from Cakes By Jay and I graduated from the same culinary school-does that count?

Im just really torn because Fox Hollow doesnt do anything as far as a 'credit' and do I really want to spend extra money on a cake when it could go else where ya know? We spend more on photography and videography bc that is something we will have for a long time-a cake not so much. AHHHHHHHHH
