thats neat ane I am sure they can make it work. Maybe you can buy a big easel and put the board on there on top of the piano?
I was thinking that but I'm afraid then people wont be able to reach the cards near the top---what do you think?

I think your right and if you did put it on an easel it may fall over :( not sure if you know but the TC gives out ivory place cards with a swan on it. They are actually nice :)

Re: Thatched cottage thread
What if you put the easel on the way into the ball room? Like right in that little nook next to the stair case or next to the piano. You should ask if they have an easel before you buy one though, most of the time halls do. And then you can put pictures or something on the piano. Was thinking on doing the board too because It looks SOOO pretty, but I saw it after I bought stemmed votive holders that im using for the place cards. So some how I want to smush family wedding photos AND my votives on the piano! The board would have been so much easier lol

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Thanks for your help---an easel sounds like a good idea. I could even put them on a table if it's leaning on the wall. Hopefully, they have an easel !I was going to go in and ask for a sample of the swan place cards and the menus==have you guys seen them yet?

Unfortunately, I was back to work Monday and the HM is not until the summer. We do need help planning a weekend getaway if anyone has suggestions! Anyway, we only had a little over 100 people so we did not have tables there...they used that space to set up the ice cream bar.![]()
I personally love East Wind in Wading River. FH and I go there for litte getaways. It is on the way to the vineyards and Greenport. It has an amazing spa too! The rooms are beautiful and the restaurant is great. Check it out www.eastwindcaterers.com

Re: Thatched cottage thread
Jessica - Good luck this weekend!! I am doing my sun dance for you.Quick question: I noticed on your table seating...does TC really want you to have 12-14 people at a table? Also, when we went I thought they said they had round tables but in the picture they look oval, what shape are they?
Also, I am hoping to do the easel table seating chart as well. Erin can you please let me know if they have an easel for our use. I think it is such a cute idea and great thinking of putting in the entrance of the reception room!! I would LOVE to cover that piano with a table cloth (including the swan table
) Do you think I can do that?

Re: Thatched cottage thread
I'm not sure about covering the piano but I know you can cover the swan. I'm probably going to go there later this week to get the samples or the place cards and menus so I can ask about an easel. I actually planned to have two ribbon boards so all the cards fit so I might be out of luck with the easel idea and just need to use a table. I had asked about round tables when I signed becasue I'm not a fan of the ovals, but they said they only have the ovals......

Re: Thatched cottage thread
I thought we HAD to have at least 12 at a table unless the numbers didnt work out that way and we had to have a few tables with less? Lol I feel like this is always debated on this site

Re: Thatched cottage thread
honestly - no you DONT HAVE TO HAVE 12 PER TABLE....sorry for the CAPS....but this gets debated alot - lol - i am not trying to offend anyone.
The way it works is that you take your
total number of guests and divide by 12.
if you have 150 guests/12 = 12.5 tables which you round to 13 tables for your wedding without incurring any extra fees
it DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU SIT at each table....just that your total number of tables equals the number you reached by dividing your numbers of guests by 12.
you can sit 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 people at a table....for instance i have some tables with 10 and some with 14....
you will however, incur extra fees if you only had 150 guests and wanted 14 tables total instead of 13 tables....because then they have to have an additional waiter/bus boy for that additional table
