Get Your Drive On: Your Wedding Day Wheels

While your bride to be is busy planning the party…chances are its YOUR job to make sure you get to the church on time and in style.
While traditionally brides and grooms drove themselves or had family members drive them (in an effort to safe some money), today its almost expected that you get chauffeured to the wedding and the reception. And, that means assuming the responsibility of making sure all transportation runs smoothly.
1. The Driven Bride: According to tradition, the bride prepares at her parents’ house and typically is ushered to the church in the same car as her dad….while the bride’s mom and maids travel in a separate vehicle.
Make sure your bride arrives in style. From luxury limos and extended BMWs or Mercedes Benz to vintage vehicles, its all about personal preference and how much you have to spend. Remember, that most guests will be inside the ceremony location by the time you and your bride arrive, so it’s not likely they’ll get to see your rad ride…but they just might if you are traveling to a different reception location….so, discuss thoroughly and plan and spend wisely.
2. Getting To The Church On Time: This one is your best man’s responsibility…with many groom’s getting driven to the ceremony location by their best bud. Today’s contemporary gent however may opt for more stylized car to make a statement as he prepares to meet his bride. Whatever wheels suit YOUR style…just make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins and before the arrival of your beaming and beautiful bride. You’ll also want to make sure you have a car or cars that can get you, your new wife and your respective families and wedding party to the reception location if not at the same place.
3. Guest Services: It has been customary (in days gone by) for guests to drive themselves and sometimes there’s a lag time between the wedding and the reception which means guests will have to find a place to sit and wait before heading to the reception. If that’s the case make sure you’ve arranged for a designated “waiting” location. However, most modern couples have their reception “immediately” following the wedding ceremony, even IF at a different location. It’s also becoming quite popular to shuttle guests from one location to another via trolley or party bus.

Whether it’s late and you and your bride are tired (after the long day and all the exciting events) or whether you’ve had a few to drink…it’s always wise to get to where you’re spending your first night as husband and wife safely.
