Moving and Grooving: Getting Your Grove On…First Dance Moves
Jun 05, 2017 12:03 PM Back
If you want to impress your lady, you’ll want to have some seriously smooth moves…especially since you and your beloved will be in the spotlight and all eyes will be on the two of you.

One of the quintessential questions is whether or not you need to take dance lessons and if you should have a choreographed dance.

If you want to impress your bride and your guests, you may want to invest in learning some fancy footwork, especially if you’re not the most skilled dancer. Remember to choose music and a dance that will compliment your style, your theme and the brides dress. Yes, the bride’s dress as the length and weight will determine how much she is able to move and groove. And, remember, you may not get a practice run, especially if you tend to be traditional as classic couples believe the groom shouldn’t see the dress until the big day.

If you opt out of a crafted dance, you may want to master the slow shuffle. This classic first dance move requires the groom to place one hand on the bride’s waist and hold her hand with the other, while moving slowly and methodically around the dance floor.

This strategic classic is best for slow, romantic songs and for the guy and gal who don’t want all the fanfare. It’s a move that’s classic and classy and a surefire way to ensure you’ll have all the right moves.

Pick a song that reflects the two of you and tells YOUR story. If you don’t want to be in the limelight for too long…pick something short and sweet but that makes and impact and a statement.

Last, but certainly not least, consider inviting others out onto the dance floor to join you. This cool and smooth move is a classic and takes some of the focus and attention off you.
