Show-Stopping Moms: Magnificent Mother of the Bride Styles
Jan 23, 2019 12:44 PM Back
From 5th Avenue and Park Avenue to Fashion Avenue…New York has always been a mecca for high fashion. And, being fashion forward is what New York ladies have always taken pride in. So, it stands to reason that not only brides but their moms and soon-to-be mother-in-laws are taking a fresh new approach to looking their wedding day best in 2019.
Moms are stepping out in stylish chic and sophisticated silhouettes that are both timeless and trendy.
Evening Elegance: Long sleek gowns that are tailored and tapered give moms a classic and clean look that is sure to thrill without all the (un-necessary) frills
Afternoon Delights: Pretty Mid-length “cocktail” dresses are all the rage for ravishing moms hosting midday tea and garden type parties.
In Full Royal Regalia: Moms who want to take their cue from the royals and look magnificently majestic are opting for classic yet couture dress and coat combinations. Hats are also an option
Matching Ensembles: Having moms match their “baby girl’s” style (in a less “formal” design) is a contemporary way for moms and daughters to honor each other on this auspicious day. Moms of groom can choose to match (at least in color palette) their sons.
Bold and Beautiful: Specifically for warm weather and destination weddings…moms are choosing vibrant hues with clean yet contemporary lines, angles and cuts.
Country Club Couture: Brides whose style is minimalist are opting for less ornate gowns and instead walking down the aisle in skirts and shirts, which means moms can wear comfortable “golf classics” for the understated event. Sun dresses and jackets with ballet flats are another timeless but trendy option.
Hat Couture: Once again, taking their cues from the Royals brides and their moms are making big and bold statements with big and bold derby style hats.
Retro Revival: Women are foregoing over the top glitz and glam and opting for fresher, cleaner contemporary styles including Audrey Hepburn inspired dresses and chic and sophisticated suits with hats, gloves, etc. Evening looks also tend to be more “simple” and streamlined.
Prim and Proper Patterns: Lace and feminine florals are taking center stage especially for daytime and destination weddings.
