Tablums...Innovative Product Makes Memories Come Alive
Oct 18, 2013 10:09 AM Back
Our lives are filled with special moments such as weddings, graduations, bar and bat mitzvahs, first communions, and other special occasions. While these celebrations last only for a few hours, the memories are cherished for a lifetime. Preserving these moments with photographs helps to preserve these occasions. However, video brings these special moments back to life. Imagine gazing through a wedding album and being able to not only see the images, but hear the band playing music and the best man as he toasts the happy couple.
One local entrepreneur has devised an ingenious way to do this. Ed Sikorski, owner of Tablums in Mineola, has a patent on a product of the same name. A "Tablum" looks just like a traditional photo album, however with one interesting twist - it has a place for a tablet computer. Either on the front cover, inside front cover or inside back cover depending on your preference. By doing so, as someone gazes through it, not only can the special event be recalled through the images of the photos, but also the sounds, emotions, and video all come to life on the video displayed on the tablet. In addition, all of the photos which could not be included in a traditional photo album because of space limitations may also be uploaded to the tablet, thoroughly preserving every moment and detail of the special occasion in a slide show to music.
"It's very hip, very cool, and extremely cutting edge," says Sikorski about his product. "A Tablum is not an album, it's your whole event."
Sikorski launched his business with excellent response from photographers, videographers, brides and grooms, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, graduations, anniversaries or even a person Legacy, which he says he has been working on for about four years. Tablums also sell direct to the end user for not all photographers and videographers are resellers of Tablums. Tablums only sells to 100 resellers per state, making the Tablum a very exclusive marking tool to attract new clients. The idea was inspired by gift boxes in which the sender could not only send gifts, but a personalized video message as well, which sparked the idea of the Tablum. Sikorski holds the patent on this concept also.
Those who want something that's more cost effective can supply us a tablet that they own, which will display video, photos, sound and settings. However, those who prefer the full functionality of an Apple iPad Mini, iPad2 and above, Microsoft Surface RT, Nexus or a Kindle Fire HD can select a Tablum with one of those devices included. Whichever tablet is used, the 1080 HD video is sure to vividly recall all the moments from any special day.
