Writing your own vows

So you have decided to write your own vows! This is a wonderful way to capture a more personal side of your relationship... but what should you say?
First off remember the vows should sound like you. If you are strong and to the point in all of your words and actions, then don't try to flower it up!
'Baby I love you with all my heart. I promise I will never lie to you, I will always be there for you, I will protect you when I can and I will help you through the difficult times, I will celebrate the good and remember that every day we spend together is the best day yet.'
If you are a storyteller by nature and you want to go over a timeline that goes from how you felt when you met, to when you first realized you had fallen in love, to what it means to be standing there on your wedding day... Well that sounds wonderful! I say go for it!
Praise and promise is another good formula. Why is your fiance so special that you have chosen to spend the rest of your life by their side? Go ahead, extol their virtues! Then follow that with something that answers the question 'When you say you will be their husband or wife, what does that mean to you? What are you offering?
So you say you're not a romantic but if there's ever a day to try this is it? May I suggest writing what you would say and then hit Google. (I like Google Images myself) Look for an author who you like and weave in a romantic quote or idea.
Nicholas Sparks
Pablo Neruda
William Shakespeare
Rumi
All good! Just remember you are the one getting married so make sure it sounds like you.
After all, Who's Better Than You!
