Sharing of Leis

The boards have had a lot of questions about beach ceremonies lately. Last weekend I was at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville with a couple who included a lei ceremony. It was interesting the way they chose to blend a little Buddhism by repeating one of the meanings of 'Namaste' as the leis were exchanged. It was a beautiful ceremony and a beautiful couple.
Sharing of Leis
'In Hawaii, the giving of a lei is an expression of aloha, which means, hello,
good-bye and even love. The Hawaiians translate aloha into `I give you the
breath of my soul.' It is a tradition in Hawaii to greet those special to us
with flower leis, signifying our open hearts and aloha for one another. They
were once exchanged in the way that we exchange wedding rings today. To honor
the pledging of their higher selves to one another in marriage Amanda and
Jonathan have chosen to include this beautiful custom into their ceremony.'
Bride places lei on Groom
Amanda: 'All that is divine within me recognizes and honors all that is divine
within you.'
Groom places lei on Bride
Jonathan: 'All that is divine within me recognizes and honors all that is divine
within you.'
