Ceremony Music: Beautiful Ideas and Options for Your Special Day!
One of the things I remember most about my wedding ceremony is the stunning music I heard before my walk down the aisle, during my walk down the aisle at the very end of my ceremony and also at our wedding reception!
All my life I dreamed of having a String Trio
play just for me, exactly as I'd seen a Trio perform, in the film 'The Philadelphia Story' (vintage film) starring the late Katherine Hepburn, along with co stars Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant, who she ended up happily walking down the aisle with to the amazing string trio playing 'here Comes the Bride'.
As a little girl I used to go with my pals to see weddings at churches, We sat in the back and watched all the finery, beautiful people, gowns and everything and loved it!
However I didn't always enjoy hearing the organist on 'here comes the bride' and so...with this all said I would like to give some lovely suggestions.
For those having a more intimate affair and perhaps being on a tighter budget 1 single solo violin can give just the right touch and sound of sweetness to your ceremony.
For intimate a little more affordable than a larger string group the Duo of 1 Violin and Cello is perfect as it has the sweet sound of the violin with the accompaniment of the lower notes instrument..the treble and bass effect works!
We perform as this particular Duo frequently and it works, Also Strings blend very well together. Does a flute and cello also sound great? yes it does however in my experience one hears the flute far and above the cello as one instrument is a woodwind/wind instrument and the cello is a string instrument. Trust me 2 string instruments ..1 high notes and 1 lower notes will blend beautifully for the magical beautiful sounds you are thinking of :)
Next a very frequently requested ensemble we provide which is the String Trio and the mixed String Trio of 1 Violin, 1 Viola, 1 Cello.
Our String Trio (Violin, Viola and Cello) performed at the wedding ceremony on Xmas Day 1999 of Jerry Seinfeld and Jessica Sklar! I feel as though this particular trio became much more requested and popular after this performance than in times past where we provided other trios more such as Violin, Flute and Cello (another lovely option) and also 2 Violins and Cello.
And along with the String Trio also priced very similarly due to the size of the Harp and the 45 strings she must tune and retune!...is the Duo
of Harp and Violin. Such a beautiful sweet blend of instruments. We absolutely love to perform as this duo. You can hear video's of our concerts and other performance via You Tube by typing in 'Natalies1group' there! Recently we performed at a Concert on 1/25/12 and we performed the very virtuostic complex 'Fantasie' by Camille Saint Saens at this concert. THe Track is MOV (video) #231 available once again at You Tube under 'Natalies1group'!
Another Trio we like is the Trio of Violin, Harp and Cello. So elegant and just perfect. If you would like a fuller sound the cello adds the perfect amount of depth to the Violin and Harp Duo to form this wonderful Trio.
Yet another Trio option we provide is the Trio of Guitar, Violin and Cello. We love it and for many parties it works very well especially if you like the guitar and are comfortable with it's sound on rock and pop songs..the chords our guitarist plays and all the strumming he does while we play our more contemporary songs contributes much to fun music making and a fun evening or afternoon of good music!
Larger ensembles:
String Quartet: this is our mini orchestral string section. It's a great blend of strings sounds consisting of 2 violins, 1 first violin and 1 second violin and then 1 viola and 1 cello. The String Quartet can perform wonderul classical music and is great for pop and contemporary songs.
Some songs we play via either String Trio or Quartet at parties are:
Crazy For You, Madonna
Like a Prayer, Madonna
To Be with You, by Mr. Big
You Might Think, the Cars
Just Like Heaven, 311/the Cure
Don't Stop Believin'. Open Arms, and Faitfully Journey
Don't Want to Miss a Thing, Aerosmith
Somebody to Love, Queen
Thank You, Stairway to Heaven, All My Love, Led Zeppelin
She's got a Way, Billy Joel
Your song, Elton John
Clocks, Yellow, Viva la Vida, Cold Play
I'm Yours, Jason Mraz
Bittersweet Symphony, the Verve..
This (the above list) is just to name a few of the many great party songs we can play for you via our strings, and String Trio or String Quartet as the fuller sounds.
For Harp and Strings or Harp and Violin some songs are going to sound better than others from the above list, feel free to inquire!
Lots of options. I can give you a CD to listen to of all/anyof the above options or send you specific tracks by all/any of the soloists, duo, trio or quartet ...as per your request.
Feel free to E mail me!
