Oscar Winning Relationship
Mar 01, 2013 03:46 PM Back
The Oscars are over and no I am not going to talk about what dresses the ladies were wearing or who had the best hair or makeup. I am talking about Ben Affleck – no, not the fact that he won the Oscar for Best Picture, I want to talk about his acceptance speech.
Specifically, how he thanked his wife Jennifer Garner, for 'working' on their marriage and how he acknowledged that a good marriage takes effort from both sides. He continued to say: 'It is work but it's the best kind of work and there is nobody else I would rather do that kind of work with.' Like a classic Hollywood moment the camera panned to his beautiful wife who was smiling and getting emotional.
Here I was sitting in my home far away from tinsel town getting emotional myself! Yes I may be a sap but in Hollywood, where couples break up faster than they can book their next public appearance, here is a husband who publicly declares that even celebrities have to work on their marriages. Bravo Ben – that in itself deserved a standing ovation in my book!
Too often couples forget or choose to ignore the fact that yes indeed marriage takes work. Add kids, jobs, and a home to the mix and you have what could be a recipe for disaster – that is if you let your marriage run on autopilot. As with anything we do in life things take work to succeed.
So what do you do when life gets in the way of your marriage? You guessed it – get back on track!
Here are a few things to help:
- Make your partner your priority.
- Spend quality time with your partner – schedule the time where you can be with each other.
- Work together – you are both on the same team and you want the same goals in life.
Marriage takes work but isn't life a beautiful thing when you have your partner by your side and together you can get thru anything?
